[ Upstream commit f2dd495a8d589371289981d5ed33e6873df94ecc ]
Do not reset IP_CT_TCP_FLAG_BE_LIBERAL flag in out-of-sync scenarios
coming before the TCP window tracking, otherwise such connections will
fail in the window check.
Update tcp_options() to leave this flag in place and add a new helper
function to reset the tcp window state.
Based on patch from Sven Auhagen.

commit c3873070247d9e3c7a6b0cf9bf9b45e8018427b1 upstream.
Eric Dumazet says:
The sock_hold() side seems suspect, because there is no guarantee
that sk_refcnt is not already 0.
On failure, we cannot queue the packet and need to indicate an
error. The packet will be dropped by the caller.

commit 747670fd9a2d1b7774030dba65ca022ba442ce71 upstream.
There is no guarantee that state->sk refers to a full socket.
If refcount transitions to 0, sock_put calls sk_free which then ends up
with garbage fields.
I'd like to thank Oleksandr Natalenko and Jiri Benc for considerable
debug work and pointing out state->sk oddities.

commit dad3bdeef45f81a6e90204bcc85360bb76eccec7 upstream.
stateful objects can be updated from the control plane.
The transaction logic allocates a temporary object for this purpose.
The ->init function was called for this object, so plain kfree() leaks
resources. We must call ->destroy function of the object.
nft_obj_destroy does this, but it also decrements the module refcount,
but the update path doesn't increment it.
To avoid special-casing the update object release, do module_get for
the update case too and release it via nft_obj_destroy().

[ Upstream commit ebb966d3bdfed581ecccbb4a7432341baf7619b4 ]
In commit 5648b5e1169f ("netfilter: nfnetlink_queue: fix OOB when mac
header was cleared"), the test for non-empty MAC header introduced in
commit 2c38de4c1f8da7 ("netfilter: fix looped (broad|multi)cast's MAC
handling") has been replaced with a test for a set MAC header.
This breaks the case when the MAC header has been reset (using
skb_reset_mac_header), as is the case with looped-back multicast
packets. As a result, the packets ending up in NFQUEUE get a bogus
hwaddr interpreted from the first bytes of the IP header.
This patch adds a test for a non-empty MAC header in addition to the
test for a set MAC header. The same two tests are also implemented in
nfnetlink_log.c, where the initial code of commit 2c38de4c1f8da7
("netfilter: fix looped (broad|multi)cast's MAC handling") has not been
touched, but where supposedly the same situation may happen.

The ipv4 and device notifiers are called with RTNL mutex held.
The table walk can take some time, better not block other RTNL users.
'ip a' has been reported to block for up to 20 seconds when conntrack table

masq_inet6_event is called asynchronously from system work queue,
because the inet6 notifier is atomic and nf_iterate_cleanup can sleep.
The ipv4 and device notifiers call nf_iterate_cleanup directly.
This is legal, but these notifiers are called with RTNL mutex held.
A large conntrack table with many devices coming and going will have severe
impact on the system usability, with 'ip a' blocking for several seconds.
This change places the defer code into a helper and makes it more
generic so ipv4 and ifdown notifiers can be converted to defer the
cleanup walk as well in a follow patch.

Michal Kubecek reports that conntrack gc is responsible for frequent
wakeups (every 125ms) on idle systems.
On busy systems, timed out entries are evicted during lookup.
The gc worker is only needed to remove entries after system becomes idle
after a busy period.
To resolve this, always scan the entire table.
If the scan is taking too long, reschedule so other work_structs can run
and resume from next bucket.
After a completed scan, wait for 2 minutes before the next cycle.
Heuristics for faster re-schedule are removed.
GC_SCAN_INTERVAL could be exposed as a sysctl in the future to allow
tuning this as-needed or even turn the gc worker off.

[ Upstream commit 2e34328b396a69b73661ba38d47d92b7cf21c2c4 ]
I got a problem on MIPS with Big-Endian is turned on: every time when
NF trying to change TCP MSS it returns because of new.v16 was greater
than old.v16. But real MSS was 1460 and my rule was like this:
add rule table chain tcp option maxseg size set 1400
And 1400 is lesser that 1460, not greater.
Later I founded that main causer is cast from u32 to __be16.
Debugging:
In example MSS = 1400(HEX: 0x578). Here is representation of each byte
like it is in memory by addresses from left to right(e.g. [0x0 0x1 0x2
0x3]). LE — Little-Endian system, BE — Big-Endian, left column is type.
LE BE
u32: [78 05 00 00] [00 00 05 78]
As you can see, u32 representation will be casted to u16 from different
half of 4-byte address range. But actually nf_tables uses registers and
store data of various size. Actually TCP MSS stored in 2 bytes. But
registers are still u32 in definition:
struct nft_regs {
union {
u32 data[20];
struct nft_verdict verdict;
};
};
So, access like regs->data[priv->sreg] exactly u32. So, according to
table presents above, per-byte representation of stored TCP MSS in
register will be:
LE BE
(u32)regs->data[]: [78 05 00 00] [05 78 00 00]
^^ ^^
We see that register uses just half of u32 and other 2 bytes may be
used for some another data. But in nft_exthdr_tcp_set_eval() it casted
just like u32 -> __be16:
new.v16 = src
But u32 overfill __be16, so it get 2 low bytes. For clarity draw
one more table(<xx xx> means that bytes will be used for cast).
LE BE
u32: [<78 05> 00 00] [00 00 <05 78>]
(u32)regs->data[]: [<78 05> 00 00] [05 78 <00 00>]
As you can see, for Little-Endian nothing changes, but for Big-endian we
take the wrong half. In my case there is some other data instead of
zeros, so new MSS was wrongly greater.
For shooting this bug I used solution for ports ranges. Applying of this
patch does not affect Little-Endian systems.

The TCP option parser in synproxy (synproxy_parse_options) could read
one byte out of bounds. When the length is 1, the execution flow gets

commit 2671fa4dc0109d3fb581bc3078fdf17b5d9080f6 upstream.
These sysctls point to global variables:
- NF_SYSCTL_CT_MAX (&nf_conntrack_max)
- NF_SYSCTL_CT_EXPECT_MAX (&nf_ct_expect_max)
- NF_SYSCTL_CT_BUCKETS (&nf_conntrack_htable_size_user)
Because their data pointers are not updated to point to per-netns
structures, they must be marked read-only in a non-init_net ns.
Otherwise, changes in any net namespace are reflected in (leaked into)
all other net namespaces. This problem has existed since the
introduction of net namespaces.
The current logic marks them read-only only if the net namespace is
owned by an unprivileged user (other than init_user_ns).
Commit d0febd81ae77 ("netfilter: conntrack: re-visit sysctls in
unprivileged namespaces") "exposes all sysctls even if the namespace is
unpriviliged." Since we need to mark them readonly in any case, we can
forego the unprivileged user check altogether.

[ Upstream commit 175e476b8cdf2a4de7432583b49c871345e4f8a1 ]
When a new table value was assigned, it was followed by a write memory
barrier. This ensured that all writes before this point would complete
before any writes after this point. However, to determine whether the
rules are unused, the sequence counter is read. To ensure that all
writes have been done before these reads, a full memory barrier is
needed, not just a write memory barrier. The same argument applies when
incrementing the counter, before the rules are read.
Changing to using smp_mb() instead of smp_wmb() fixes the kernel panic
reported in cc00bcaa5899 (which is still present), while still
maintaining the same speed of replacing tables.
The smb_mb() barriers potentially slow the packet path, however testing
has shown no measurable change in performance on a 4-core MIPS64
platform.

This reverts commit cc00bcaa589914096edef7fb87ca5cee4a166b5c.
This (and the preceding) patch basically re-implemented the RCU
mechanisms of patch 784544739a25. That patch was replaced because of the
performance problems that it created when replacing tables. Now, we have
the same issue: the call to synchronize_rcu() makes replacing tables
slower by as much as an order of magnitude.
Prior to using RCU a script calling "iptables" approx. 200 times was
taking 1.16s. With RCU this increased to 11.59s.
Revert these patches and fix the issue in a different way.

Before this change, the mask is never included in the netlink message, so
"conntrack -E expect" always prints 0.0.0.0.
In older kernels the l3num callback struct was passed as argument, based
on tuple->src.l3num. After the l3num indirection got removed, the call
chain is based on m.src.l3num, but this value is 0xffff.
Init l3num to the correct value.

commit 03a3ca37e4c6478e3a84f04c8429dd5889e107fd upstream.
Under extremely rare conditions TCP early demux will retrieve the wrong
socket.
1. local machine establishes a connection to a remote server, S, on port
p.
This gives:
laddr:lport -> S:p
... both in tcp and conntrack.
2. local machine establishes a connection to host H, on port p2.
2a. TCP stack choses same laddr:lport, so we have
laddr:lport -> H:p2 from TCP point of view.
2b). There is a destination NAT rewrite in place, translating
H:p2 to S:p. This results in following conntrack entries:
I) laddr:lport -> S:p (origin) S:p -> laddr:lport (reply)
II) laddr:lport -> H:p2 (origin) S:p -> laddr:lport2 (reply)
NAT engine has rewritten laddr:lport to laddr:lport2 to map
the reply packet to the correct origin.
When server sends SYN/ACK to laddr:lport2, the PREROUTING hook
will undo-the SNAT transformation, rewriting IP header to
S:p -> laddr:lport
This causes TCP early demux to associate the skb with the TCP socket
of the first connection.
The INPUT hook will then reverse the DNAT transformation, rewriting
the IP header to H:p2 -> laddr:lport.
Because packet ends up with the wrong socket, the new connection
never completes: originator stays in SYN_SENT and conntrack entry
remains in SYN_RECV until timeout, and responder retransmits SYN/ACK
until it gives up.
To resolve this, orphan the skb after the input rewrite:
Because the source IP address changed, the socket must be incorrect.
We can't move the DNAT undo to prerouting due to backwards
compatibility, doing so will make iptables/nftables rules to no longer
match the way they did.
After orphan, the packet will be handed to the next protocol layer
(tcp, udp, ...) and that will repeat the socket lookup just like as if
early demux was disabled.

[ Upstream commit 07998281c268592963e1cd623fe6ab0270b65ae4 ]
The origin skip check needs to re-test the zone. Else, we might skip
a colliding tuple in the reply direction.
This only occurs when using 'directional zones' where origin tuples
reside in different zones but the reply tuples share the same zone.
This causes the new conntrack entry to be dropped at confirmation time
because NAT clash resolution was elided.

[ Upstream commit 8d6bca156e47d68551750a384b3ff49384c67be3 ]
When updating the tcp or udp header checksum on port nat the function
inet_proto_csum_replace2 with the last parameter pseudohdr as true.
This leads to an error in the case that GRO is used and packets are
split up in GSO. The tcp or udp checksum of all packets is incorrect.
The error is probably masked due to the fact the most network driver
implement tcp/udp checksum offloading. It also only happens when GRO is
applied and not on single packets.
The error is most visible when using a pppoe connection which is not
triggering the tcp/udp checksum offload.
