2019-01-14lan78xx: Resolve issue with changing MAC addressJason Martinsen
commit 15515aaaa69659c502003926a2067ee76176148a upstream. Current state for the lan78xx driver does not allow for changing the MAC address of the interface, without either removing the module (if you compiled it that way) or rebooting the machine. If you attempt to change the MAC address, ifconfig will show the new address, however, the system/interface will not respond to any traffic using that configuration. A few short-term options to work around this are to unload the module and reload it with the new MAC address, change the interface to "promisc", or reboot with the correct configuration to change the MAC. This patch enables the ability to change the MAC address via fairly normal means... ifdown <interface> modify entry in /etc/network/interfaces OR a similar method ifup <interface> Then test via any network communication, such as ICMP requests to gateway. My only test platform for this patch has been a raspberry pi model 3b+. Signed-off-by: Jason Martinsen <jasonmartinsen@msn.com> ----- Signed-off-by: David S. As long the bh tasklet isn't scheduled once, no packet from the rx path will be handled. Since the tx path also schedule the same tasklet this situation only persits until the first packet transmission. So fix this issue by scheduling the tasklet after link reset. The skb size calculation in lan78xx_tx_bh is in race with the start_xmit, which could lead to rare kernel oopses. So protect the whole skb walk with a spin lock. As a benefit we can unlink the skb directly. 2018-04-20lan78xx: Read LED states from Device TreePhil Elwell
Add support for DT property "microchip,led-modes", a vector of zero to four cells (u32s) in the range 0-15, each of which sets the mode for one of the LEDs. Some possible values are: 0=link/activity 1=link1000/activity 2=link100/activity 3=link10/activity 4=link100/1000/activity 5=link10/1000/activity 6=link10/100/activity 14=off 15=on These values are given symbolic constants in a dt-bindings header. Also use the presence of the DT property to indicate that the LEDs should be enabled - necessary in the event that no valid OTP or EEPROM is available. 2018-04-11lan78xx: Don't reset the interface on openPhil Elwell
Commit 92571a1aae40 ("lan78xx: Connect phy early") moves the PHY initialisation into lan78xx_probe, but lan78xx_open subsequently calls lan78xx_reset. As well as forcing a second round of link negotiation, this reset frequently prevents the phy interrupt from being generated (even though the link is up), rendering the interface unusable. Fix this issue by removing the lan78xx_reset call from lan78xx_open. Fixes: 92571a1aae40 ("lan78xx: Connect phy early") Signed-off-by: Phil Elwell <phil@raspberrypi.org> Signed-off-by: David S. 2018-04-11lan78xx: Avoid spurious kevent 4 "error"Phil Elwell
lan78xx_defer_event generates an error message whenever the work item is already scheduled. lan78xx_open defers three events - EVENT_STAT_UPDATE, EVENT_DEV_OPEN and EVENT_LINK_RESET. Being aware of the likelihood (or certainty) of an error message, the DEV_OPEN event is added to the set of pending events directly, relying on the subsequent deferral of the EVENT_LINK_RESET call to schedule the work. Take the same precaution with EVENT_STAT_UPDATE to avoid a totally unnecessary error message. Signed-off-by: Phil Elwell <phil@raspberrypi.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2018-04-11lan78xx: Correctly indicate invalid OTPPhil Elwell
lan78xx_read_otp tries to return -EINVAL in the event of invalid OTP content, but the value gets overwritten before it is returned and the read goes ahead anyway. Make the read conditional as it should be and preserve the error code. The fix thus is quite simple too: Get a reference to the phy on probe already and keep it even when the device is going down. There is an include loop between netdevice.h, dsa.h, devlink.h because of NETDEV_ALIGN, making it impossible to use devlink structures in dsa.h. Break this loop by taking dsa.h out of netdevice.h, add a forward declaration of dsa_switch_tree and netdev_set_default_ethtool_ops() function, which is what netdevice.h requires. No longer having dsa.h in netdevice.h means the includes in dsa.h no longer get included. This breaks a few other files which depend on these includes. Add these directly in the affected file. 2017-03-22net: lan78xx: update for phy_(read|write)_mmd_indirect() removalRussell King
lan78xx appears to use phylib in a rather weird way, accessing the PHY partly through phylib, and partly by making direct accesses to it, including to the Clause 45 registers. As the indirect MMD accessors are going away, update this driver to use the plain phy_(read|write)_mmd() accessors instead. 2016-12-05net: usb: set error code when usb_alloc_urb failsPan Bian
In function lan78xx_probe(), variable ret takes the errno code on failures. However, when the call to usb_alloc_urb() fails, its value will keeps 0. 0 indicates success in the context, which is inconsistent with the execution result. 2016-03-20Revert "lan78xx: add ndo_get_stats64"David S. Miller
This reverts commit a59f8c5b048dc938fb958c91c282c865cd845705. There are several bugs in this new code, for example: 1) Uses sleeping locks in get_stats64, which is not allowed, as the operation can be invoked in an atomic context. 2) Uses PM fields without CONFIG_PM or similar guards. 3) Does not synchronize HW stats when the device runtime suspends. Therefore this is being reverted until a correct version is implemented. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

Add lan78xx_get_stats64 of ndo_get_stats64 to report all statistics counters including errors from HW statistics. Read from HW when auto suspend is disabled, use saved counter when auto suspend is enabled because periodic call to ndo_get_stats64 prevents USB auto suspend.
