2023-01-14net: emaclite: don't call dev_kfree_skb() under spin_lock_irqsave()Yang Yingliang
[ Upstream commit d1678bf45f21fa5ae4a456f821858679556ea5f8 ] It is not allowed to call kfree_skb() or consume_skb() from hardware interrupt context or with hardware interrupts being disabled. It should use dev_kfree_skb_irq() or dev_consume_skb_irq() instead. The difference between them is free reason, dev_kfree_skb_irq() means the SKB is dropped in error and dev_consume_skb_irq() means the SKB is consumed in normal. In this case, dev_kfree_skb() is called in xemaclite_tx_timeout() to drop the SKB, when tx timeout, so replace it with dev_kfree_skb_irq(). 2022-05-18net: emaclite: Don't advertise 1000BASE-T and do auto negotiationShravya Kumbham
[ Upstream commit b800528b97d0adc3a5ba42d78a8b0d3f07a31f44 ] In xemaclite_open() function we are setting the max speed of emaclite to 100Mb using phy_set_max_speed() function so, there is no need to write the advertising registers to stop giga-bit speed and the phy_start() function starts the auto-negotiation so, there is no need to handle it separately using advertising registers. Remove the phy_read and phy_write of advertising registers in xemaclite_open() function. 2021-08-10drivers: net: xilinx_emaclite: remove arch limitationGary Guo
commit 18af77c50fede5b3fc22aa9f0a9b255a5c5285c9 upstream. The changes made in eccd540 is enough for xilinx_emaclite to run without problem on 64-bit systems. I have tested it on a Xilinx FPGA with RV64 softcore. The architecture limitation in Kconfig seems no longer necessary. A small change is included to print address with %lx instead of casting to int and print with %x. Signed-off-by: Gary Guo <gary@garyguo.net> Signed-off-by: David S. 2017-02-15net: xilinx_emaclite: fix freezes due to unordered I/OAnssi Hannula
The xilinx_emaclite uses __raw_writel and __raw_readl for register accesses. Those functions do not imply any kind of memory barriers and they may be reordered. The driver does not seem to take that into account, though, and the driver does not satisfy the ordering requirements of the hardware. For clear examples, see xemaclite_mdio_write() and xemaclite_mdio_read() which try to set MDIO address before initiating the transaction. I'm seeing system freezes with the driver with GCC 5.4 and current Linux kernels on Zynq-7000 SoC immediately when trying to use the interface. In commit 123c1407af87 ("net: emaclite: Do not use microblaze and ppc IO functions") the driver was switched from non-generic in_be32/out_be32 (memory barriers, big endian) to __raw_readl/__raw_writel (no memory barriers, native endian), so apparently the device follows system endianness and the driver was originally written with the assumption of memory barriers. Rather than try to hunt for each case of missing barrier, just switch the driver to use iowrite32/ioread32/iowrite32be/ioread32be depending on endianness instead. Tested on little-endian Zynq-7000 ARM SoC FPGA. 2017-01-05net: xilinx: emaclite: Remove xemaclite_remove_ndev()Tobias Klauser
xemaclite_remove_ndev() is a simple wrapper around free_netdev() checking for NULL before the call. All possible paths calling it are guaranteed to pass a non-NULL argument, so rather call free_netdev() directly. Signed-off-by: Tobias Klauser <tklauser@distanz.ch> Signed-off-by: David S. 2016-01-07phy: Add an mdio_device structureAndrew Lunn
Not all devices attached to an MDIO bus are phys. So add an mdio_device structure to represent the generic parts of an mdio device, and place this structure into the phy_device. Signed-off-by: Andrew Lunn <andrew@lunn.ch> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2016-01-07mdio: Move allocation of interrupts into coreAndrew Lunn
Have mdio_alloc() create the array of interrupt numbers, and initialize it to POLLING. This is what most MDIO drivers want, so allowing code to be removed from the drivers. 2015-09-24net: fix phy refcounting in a bunch of driversRussell King
of_phy_find_device() increments the phy struct device refcount, which we need to properly balance. Add code to network drivers using this function to ensure that the struct device refcount is correctly balanced. For xgene, looking back in the history, we should be able to use of_phy_connect() with a zero flags argument for the DT case as this is how the driver used to operate prior to de7b5b3d790a ("net: eth: xgene: change APM X-Gene SoC platform ethernet to support ACPI"). This leaves the Cavium Thunder BGX unfixed; fixing this driver is a complicated task, one which the maintainers need to be involved with.
