2022-05-09net: ethernet: stmmac: fix write to sgmii_adapter_baseDinh Nguyen
commit 5fd1fe4807f91ea0cca043114d929faa11bd4190 upstream. I made a mistake with the commit a6aaa0032424 ("net: ethernet: stmmac: fix altr_tse_pcs function when using a fixed-link"). I should have tested against both scenario of having a SGMII interface and one without. Without the SGMII PCS TSE adpater, the sgmii_adapter_base address is NULL, thus a write to this address will fail. 2022-04-20net: ethernet: stmmac: fix altr_tse_pcs function when using a fixed-linkDinh Nguyen
[ Upstream commit a6aaa00324240967272b451bfa772547bd576ee6 ] When using a fixed-link, the altr_tse_pcs driver crashes due to null-pointer dereference as no phy_device is provided to tse_pcs_fix_mac_speed function. Fix this by adding a check for phy_dev before calling the tse_pcs_fix_mac_speed() function. Also clean up the tse_pcs_fix_mac_speed function a bit. There is no need to check for splitter_base and sgmii_adapter_base because the driver will fail if these 2 variables are not derived from the device tree. 2022-04-15net: stmmac: Fix unset max_speed difference between DT and non-DT platformsChen-Yu Tsai
[ Upstream commit c21cabb0fd0b54b8b54235fc1ecfe1195a23bcb2 ] In commit 9cbadf094d9d ("net: stmmac: support max-speed device tree property"), when DT platforms don't set "max-speed", max_speed is set to -1; for non-DT platforms, it stays the default 0. Prior to commit eeef2f6b9f6e ("net: stmmac: Start adding phylink support"), the check for a valid max_speed setting was to check if it was greater than zero. This commit got it right, but subsequent patches just checked for non-zero, which is incorrect for DT platforms. In commit 92c3807b9ac3 ("net: stmmac: convert to phylink_get_linkmodes()") the conversion switched completely to checking for non-zero value as a valid value, which caused 1000base-T to stop getting advertised by default. Instead of trying to fix all the checks, simply leave max_speed alone if DT property parsing fails. 2022-02-08net: stmmac: ensure PTP time register reads are consistentYannick Vignon
commit 80d4609008e6d696a279e39ae7458c916fcd44c1 upstream. Even if protected from preemption and interrupts, a small time window remains when the 2 register reads could return inconsistent values, each time the "seconds" register changes. 2022-02-08net: stmmac: dump gmac4 DMA registers correctlyCamel Guo
commit 7af037c39b600bac2c716dd1228e8ddbe149573f upstream. Unlike gmac100, gmac1000, gmac4 has 27 DMA registers and they are located at DMA_CHAN_BASE_ADDR (0x1100). In order for ethtool to dump gmac4 DMA registers correctly, this commit checks if a net_device has gmac4 and uses different logic to dump its DMA registers. 2021-10-20net: stmmac: fix get_hw_feature() on old hardwareHerve Codina
commit 075da584bae2da6a37428d59a477b6bdad430ac3 upstream. Some old IPs do not provide the hardware feature register. On these IPs, this register is read 0x00000000. In old driver version, this feature was handled but a regression came with the commit f10a6a3541b4 ("stmmac: rework get_hw_feature function"). Indeed, this commit removes the return value in dma->get_hw_feature(). This return value was used to indicate the validity of retrieved information and used later on in stmmac_hw_init() to override priv->plat data if this hardware feature were valid. This patch restores the return code in ->get_hw_feature() in order to indicate the hardware feature validity and override priv->plat data only if this hardware feature is valid. 2021-10-06net: stmmac: don't attach interface until resume finishesLeon Yu
commit 31096c3e8b1163c6e966bf4d1f36d8b699008f84 upstream. Commit 14b41a2959fb ("net: stmmac: Delete txtimer in suspend") was the first attempt to fix a race between mod_timer() and setup_timer() during stmmac_resume(). However the issue still exists as the commit only addressed half of the issue. Same race can still happen as stmmac_resume() re-attaches interface way too early - even before hardware is fully initialized. Worse, doing so allows network traffic to restart and stmmac_tx_timer_arm() being called in the middle of stmmac_resume(), which re-init tx timers in stmmac_init_coalesce(). timer_list will be corrupted and system crashes as a result of race between mod_timer() and setup_timer(). systemd--1995 2.... 552950018us : stmmac_suspend: 4994 ksoftirq-9 0..s2 553123133us : stmmac_tx_timer_arm: 2276 systemd--1995 0.... 553127896us : stmmac_resume: 5101 systemd--320 7...2 553132752us : stmmac_tx_timer_arm: 2276 (sd-exec-1999 5...2 553135204us : stmmac_tx_timer_arm: 2276 --------------------------------- pc : run_timer_softirq+0x468/0x5e0 lr : run_timer_softirq+0x570/0x5e0 Call trace: run_timer_softirq+0x468/0x5e0 __do_softirq+0x124/0x398 irq_exit+0xd8/0xe0 __handle_domain_irq+0x6c/0xc0 gic_handle_irq+0x60/0xb0 el1_irq+0xb8/0x180 arch_cpu_idle+0x38/0x230 default_idle_call+0x24/0x3c do_idle+0x1e0/0x2b8 cpu_startup_entry+0x28/0x48 secondary_start_kernel+0x1b4/0x208 Fix this by deferring netif_device_attach() to the end of stmmac_resume(). 2021-09-30net: stmmac: allow CSR clock of 300MHzJesper Nilsson
[ Upstream commit 08dad2f4d541fcfe5e7bfda72cc6314bbfd2802f ] The Synopsys Ethernet IP uses the CSR clock as a base clock for MDC. The divisor used is set in the MAC_MDIO_Address register field CR (Clock Rate) The divisor is there to change the CSR clock into a clock that falls below the IEEE 802.3 specified max frequency of 2.5MHz. If the CSR clock is 300MHz, the code falls back to using the reset value in the MAC_MDIO_Address register, as described in the comment above this code. However, 300MHz is actually an allowed value and the proper divider can be estimated quite easily (it's just 1Hz difference!) A CSR frequency of 300MHz with the maximum clock rate value of 0x5 (STMMAC_CSR_250_300M, a divisor of 124) gives somewhere around ~2.42MHz which is below the IEEE 802.3 specified maximum. For the ARTPEC-8 SoC, the CSR clock is this problematic 300MHz, and unfortunately, the reset-value of the MAC_MDIO_Address CR field is 0x0. This leads to a clock rate of zero and a divisor of 42, and gives an MDC frequency of ~7.14MHz. Allow CSR clock of 300MHz by making the comparison inclusive. 2021-09-22net: ethernet: stmmac: Do not use unreachable() in ipq806x_gmac_probe()Nathan Chancellor
[ Upstream commit 4367355dd90942a71641c98c40c74589c9bddf90 ] When compiling with clang in certain configurations, an objtool warning appears: drivers/net/ethernet/stmicro/stmmac/dwmac-ipq806x.o: warning: objtool: ipq806x_gmac_probe() falls through to next function phy_modes() This happens because the unreachable annotation in the third switch statement is not eliminated. The compiler should know that the first default case would prevent the second and third from being reached as the comment notes but sanitizer options can make it harder for the compiler to reason this out. Help the compiler out by eliminating the unreachable() annotation and unifying the default case error handling so that there is no objtool warning, the meaning of the code stays the same, and there is less duplication. 2021-05-22net: stmmac: Do not enable RX FIFO overflow interruptsYannick Vignon
[ Upstream commit 8a7cb245cf28cb3e541e0d6c8624b95d079e155b ] The RX FIFO overflows when the system is not able to process all received packets and they start accumulating (first in the DMA queue in memory, then in the FIFO). An interrupt is then raised for each overflowing packet and handled in stmmac_interrupt(). This is counter-productive, since it brings the system (or more likely, one CPU core) to its knees to process the FIFO overflow interrupts. stmmac_interrupt() handles overflow interrupts by writing the rx tail ptr into the corresponding hardware register (according to the MAC spec, this has the effect of restarting the MAC DMA). However, without freeing any rx descriptors, the DMA stops right away, and another overflow interrupt is raised as the FIFO overflows again. Since the DMA is already restarted at the end of stmmac_rx_refill() after freeing descriptors, disabling FIFO overflow interrupts and the corresponding handling code has no side effect, and eliminates the interrupt storm when the RX FIFO overflows. 2020-08-21net: ethernet: stmmac: Disable hardware multicast filterJonathan McDowell
commit df43dd526e6609769ae513a81443c7aa727c8ca3 upstream. The IPQ806x does not appear to have a functional multicast ethernet address filter. This was observed as a failure to correctly receive IPv6 packets on a LAN to the all stations address. Checking the vendor driver shows that it does not attempt to enable the multicast filter and instead falls back to receiving all multicast packets, internally setting ALLMULTI. Use the new fallback support in the dwmac1000 driver to correctly achieve the same with the mainline IPQ806x driver. Confirmed to fix IPv6 functionality on an RB3011 router. [ Upstream commit 91a2559c1dc5b0f7e1256d42b1508935e8eabfbf ] In fine adjustement mode, which is the current default, the sub-second increment register is the number of nanoseconds that will be added to the clock when the accumulator overflows. At each clock cycle, the value of the addend register is added to the accumulator. Currently, we use 20ns = 1e09ns / 50MHz as this value whatever the frequency of the ptp clock actually is. The adjustment is then done on the addend register, only incrementing every X clock cycles X being the ratio between 50MHz and ptp_clock_rate (addend = 2^32 * 50MHz/ptp_clock_rate). This causes the following issues : - In case the frequency of the ptp clock is inferior or equal to 50MHz, the addend value calculation will overflow and the default addend value will be set to 0, causing the clock to not work at all. (For instance, for ptp_clock_rate = 50MHz, addend = 2^32). - The resolution of the timestamping clock is limited to 20ns while it is not needed, thus limiting the accuracy of the timestamping to 20ns. Fix this by setting sub-second increment to 2e09ns / ptp_clock_rate. It will allow to reach the minimum possible frequency for ptp_clk_ref, which is 5MHz for GMII 1000Mps Full-Duplex by setting the sub-second-increment to a higher value. For instance, for 25MHz, it gives ssinc = 80ns and default_addend = 2^31. It will also allow to use a lower value for sub-second-increment, thus improving the timestamping accuracy with frequencies higher than 100MHz, for instance, for 200MHz, ssinc = 10ns and default_addend = 2^31. v1->v2: - Remove modifications to the calculation of default addend, which broke compatibility with clock frequencies for which 2000000000 / ptp_clk_freq is not an integer. - Modify description according to discussions. 2020-04-21net: stmmac: dwmac-sunxi: Provide TX and RX fifo sizesFlorian Fainelli
[ Upstream commit 806fd188ce2a4f8b587e83e73c478e6484fbfa55 ] After commit bfcb813203e619a8960a819bf533ad2a108d8105 ("net: dsa: configure the MTU for switch ports") my Lamobo R1 platform which uses an allwinner,sun7i-a20-gmac compatible Ethernet MAC started to fail by rejecting a MTU of 1536. The reason for that is that the DMA capabilities are not readable on this version of the IP, and there is also no 'tx-fifo-depth' property being provided in Device Tree. The property is documented as optional, and is not provided. Chen-Yu indicated that the FIFO sizes are 4KB for TX and 16KB for RX, so provide these values through platform data as an immediate fix until various Device Tree sources get updated accordingly. [ Upstream commit fc191af1bb0d069dc7e981076e8b80af21f1e61d ] Not every stmmac based platform makes use of the eth_wake_irq or eth_lpi interrupts. Use the platform_get_irq_byname_optional variant for these interrupts, so no error message is displayed, if they can't be found. Rather print an information to hint something might be wrong to assist debugging on platforms which use these interrupts. Signed-off-by: Markus Fuchs <mklntf@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2020-03-18net: stmmac: dwmac1000: Disable ACS if enhanced descs are not usedRemi Pommarel
[ Upstream commit b723bd933980f4956dabc8a8d84b3e83be8d094c ] ACS (auto PAD/FCS stripping) removes FCS off 802.3 packets (LLC) so that there is no need to manually strip it for such packets. The enhanced DMA descriptors allow to flag LLC packets so that the receiving callback can use that to strip FCS manually or not. On the other hand, normal descriptors do not support that. Thus in order to not truncate LLC packet ACS should be disabled when using normal DMA descriptors. Fixes: 47dd7a540b8a0 ("net: add support for STMicroelectronics Ethernet controllers.")
