2021-07-20sfc: error code if SRIOV cannot be disabledÍñigo Huguet
[ Upstream commit 1ebe4feb8b442884f5a28d2437040096723dd1ea ] If SRIOV cannot be disabled during device removal or module unloading, return error code so it can be logged properly in the calling function. Note that this can only happen if any VF is currently attached to a guest using Xen, but not with vfio/KVM. Despite that in that case the VFs won't work properly with PF removed and/or the module unloaded, I have let it as is because I don't know what side effects may have changing it, and also it seems to be the same that other drivers are doing in this situation. In the case of being called during SRIOV reconfiguration, the behavior hasn't changed because the function is called with force=false. 2021-07-20sfc: avoid double pci_remove of VFsÍñigo Huguet
[ Upstream commit 45423cff1db66cf0993e8a9bd0ac93e740149e49 ] If pci_remove was called for a PF with VFs, the removal of the VFs was called twice from efx_ef10_sriov_fini: one directly with pci_driver->remove and another implicit by calling pci_disable_sriov, which also perform the VFs remove. This was leading to crashing the kernel on the second attempt. Given that pci_disable_sriov already calls to pci remove function, get rid of the direct call to pci_driver->remove from the driver. 2 different ways to trigger the bug: - Create one or more VFs, then attach the PF to a virtual machine (at least with qemu/KVM) - Create one or more VFs, then remove the PF with: echo 1 > /sys/bus/pci/devices/PF_PCI_ID/remove Removing sfc module does not trigger the error, at least for me, because it removes the VF first, and then the PF. When it makes sense, just remove the lvalue assignment and the local. Other times, just remove the offending code, and occasionally, just mark the variable as maybe unused since it could be used in an ifdef or debug scenario. Only compile tested with W=1. Before the Fixes:-tagged commit there was a similar bug with tsoh_page, but I'm not sure it's worth doing another fix for such old kernels. [ Upstream commit 3366463513f544c12c6b88c13da4462ee9e7a1a1 ] Use a bitmap to keep track of which partition types we've already seen; for duplicates, return -EEXIST from efx_ef10_mtd_probe_partition() and thus skip adding that partition. Duplicate partitions occur because of the A/B backup scheme used by newer sfc NICs. Prior to this patch they cause sysfs_warn_dup errors because they have the same name, causing us not to expose any MTDs at all. 2018-01-02sfc: pass valid pointers from efx_enqueue_unwindBert Kenward
[ Upstream commit d4a7a8893d4cdbc89d79ac4aa704bf8d4b67b368 ] The bytes_compl and pkts_compl pointers passed to efx_dequeue_buffers cannot be NULL. Add a paranoid warning to check this condition and fix the one case where they were NULL. efx_enqueue_unwind() is called very rarely, during error handling. Without this fix it would fail with a NULL pointer dereference in efx_dequeue_buffer, with efx_enqueue_skb in the call stack. 2017-11-02License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no licenseGreg Kroah-Hartman
Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license. By default all files without license information are under the default license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2. Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0' SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and Philippe Ombredanne. How this work was done: Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of the use cases: - file had no licensing information it it. - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it, - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information, Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords. The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files. The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s) to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was: - Files considered eligible had to be source code files. - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5 lines of source - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5 lines). All documentation files were explicitly excluded. The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license identifiers to apply. - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was considered to have no license information in it, and the top level COPYING file license applied. For non */uapi/* files that summary was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 11139 and resulted in the first patch in this series. If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930 and resulted in the second patch in this series. - if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in it (per prior point). Results summary: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------ GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270 GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17 LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15 GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14 ((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5 LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4 LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1 and that resulted in the third patch in this series. - when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became the concluded license(s). - when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a license but the other didn't, or they both detected different licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred. - In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics). - When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. - If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier, the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later in time. In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so they are related. Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks in about 15000 files. In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the correct identifier. Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch version early this week with: - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected license ids and scores - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+ files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the different types of files to be modified. These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to generate the patches. 2017-07-12sfc: don't read beyond unicast address listBert Kenward
If we have more than 32 unicast MAC addresses assigned to an interface we will read beyond the end of the address table in the driver when adding filters. The next 256 entries store multicast addresses, so we will end up attempting to insert duplicate filters, which is mostly harmless. If we add more than 288 unicast addresses we will then read past the multicast address table, which is likely to be more exciting. The 8000 series adapters uses catch-all filters for encapsulated traffic to support filtering VXLAN, NVGRE and GENEVE traffic. This new filter functionality requires a longer MCDI command. This patch increases the size of buffers on stack that were missed, which fixes a kernel panic from the stack protector. It seems like a historic accident that these return unsigned char *, and in many places that means casts are required, more often than not. If the mc_list is longer than 256 addresses, we enter mc_promisc mode. If we're in mc_promisc mode and the firmware doesn't support cascaded multicast, normally we also insert our mc_list, to prevent stealing by another VI. However, if the mc_list was too long, this isn't really helpful - the MC groups that didn't fit in the list can still get stolen, and having only some of them stealable will probably cause more confusing behaviour than having them all stealable. Since inserting 256 multicast filters takes a long time and can lead to MCDI state machine timeouts, just skip the mc_list insert in this overflow condition. 2017-03-15mqprio: Modify mqprio to pass user parameters via ndo_setup_tc.Amritha Nambiar
The configurable priority to traffic class mapping and the user specified queue ranges are used to configure the traffic class, overriding the hardware defaults when the 'hw' option is set to 0. However, when the 'hw' option is non-zero, the hardware QOS defaults are used. This patch makes it so that we can pass the data the user provided to ndo_setup_tc. This allows us to pull in the queue configuration if the user requested it as well as any additional hardware offload type requested by using a value other than 1 for the hw value. Finally it also provides a means for the device driver to return the level supported for the offload type via the qopt->hw value. Previously we were just always assuming the value to be 1, in the future values beyond just 1 may be supported. 2017-02-17sfc: fix filter_id misinterpretation in edge caseJon Cooper
On EF10, hardware filter IDs are 13 bits, but in some places we store 32-bit "full filter IDs" in which higher order bits encode the filter match-priority. This could cause a filter to have a full filter ID of 0xffff, which is also the value EFX_EF10_FILTER_ID_INVALID which we use in 16-bit "short" filter IDs (without match-priority bits). This would occur if the hardware filter ID was 0x1fff and the match-priority was 7. Unfortunately, some code that checks for EFX_EF10_FILTER_ID_INVALID can be called on full filter IDs, and will WARN_ON if this ever happens. So, since we have plenty of spare bits in the full filter ID, this patch shifts the priority bits left one bit when constructing the full filter IDs, ensuring that the 0x2000 bit of a full filter ID will always be 0 and thus no full filter ID can ever equal EFX_EF10_FILTER_ID_INVALID. This patch also replaces open-coded full<->short filter ID conversions with calls to functions, thus keeping the definition of the full filter ID format in one place.
