2015-04-26pxa168: fix double deallocation of managed resourcesAlexey Khoroshilov
Commit 43d3ddf87a57 ("net: pxa168_eth: add device tree support") starts to use managed resources by adding devm_clk_get() and devm_ioremap_resource(), but it leaves explicit iounmap() and clock_put() in pxa168_eth_remove() and in failure handling code of pxa168_eth_probe(). As a result double free can happen. The patch removes explicit resource deallocation. Also it converts clk_disable() to clk_disable_unprepare() to make it symmetrical with clk_prepare_enable(). 2014-12-05pxa168: close race between napi and irq activationLino Sanfilippo
In pxa168_eth_open() the irqs are enabled before napi. This opens a tiny time window in which the irq handler is processed, disables irqs but then is not able to schedule the not yet activated napi, leaving irqs disabled forever (since irqs are reenabled in napi poll function). 2014-09-30net: pxa168_eth: rework the MAC address setupAntoine Ténart
This patch rework the way the MAC address is retrieved. The MAC address can now, in addition to being random, be set in the device tree or retrieved from the Ethernet controller MAC address registers. The probing function will try to get a MAC address in the following order: - From the device tree. - From the Ethernet controller MAC address registers. - Generate a random one. This patch also adds a function to read the MAC address from the Ethernet Controller registers. 2014-09-30net: pxa168_eth: set the mac address on the Ethernet controllerAntoine Ténart
When changing the MAC address, in addition to updating the dev_addr in the net_device structure, this patch also update the MAC address registers (high and low) of the Ethernet controller with the new MAC. The address stored in these registers is used for IEEE 802.3x Ethernet flow control, which is already enabled. None of these files are actually using any __init type directives and hence don't need to include <linux/init.h>. Most are just a left over from __devinit and __cpuinit removal, or simply due to code getting copied from one driver to the next. 2013-12-09net: pxa168_eth: use phy_init_hw for PHY resetFlorian Fainelli
Instead of open-coding a PHY reset through the MII BMCR register, use phy_init_hw() which does this for us and ensures that PHY device fixups are also applied. We also remove a call to ethernet_phy_reset() which is now unncessary since phy_attach() calls phy_attach_direct() which in turns calls phy_init_hw(). __GFP_ZERO is an uncommon flag and perhaps is better not used. static inline dma_zalloc_coherent exists so convert the uses of dma_alloc_coherent with __GFP_ZERO to the more common kernel style with zalloc. Remove memset from the static inline dma_zalloc_coherent and add just one use of __GFP_ZERO instead. Trivially reduces the size of the existing uses of dma_zalloc_coherent. Realign arguments as appropriate. If *_init() functions unsuccessfully return after the allocation (e.g. when subsequent dma_alloc_coherent() is not successful), this would result in attempt to kfree() invalid pointers. The change set of 4305b541, "[SK_BUFF]: Convert skb->end to sk_buff_data_t" converted skb->end from pointer type to sk_buff_data_t. The pointed value should be accessed via skb_end_pointer(). Since arm arch doesn't define NET_SKBUFF_DATA_USES_OFFSET, skb->end is effectively pointer. So it doesn't cause a real problem. But this patch is good for consistency. Found by inspection. 2013-01-14net: phy: remove flags argument from phy_{attach, connect, connect_direct}Florian Fainelli
The flags argument of the phy_{attach,connect,connect_direct} functions is then used to assign a struct phy_device dev_flags with its value. All callers but the tg3 driver pass the flag 0, which results in the underlying PHY drivers in drivers/net/phy/ not being able to actually use any of the flags they would set in dev_flags. This patch gets rid of the flags argument, and passes phydev->dev_flags to the internal PHY library call phy_attach_direct() such that drivers which actually modify a phy device dev_flags get the value preserved for use by the underlying phy driver. Adding casts of objects to the same type is unnecessary and confusing for a human reader. For example, this cast: int y; int *p = (int *)&y; I used the coccinelle script below to find and remove these unnecessary casts. I manually removed the conversions this script produces of casts with __force, __iomem and __user. @@ type T; T *p; @@ - (T *)p + p A function in atl1e_main.c was passed a const pointer when it actually modified elements of the structure.
