commit b5bd95d17102b6719e3531d627875b9690371383 upstream.
Background:
We have a customer is running a Profinet stack on the 8MM which receives and
responds PNIO packets every 4ms and PNIO-CM packets every 40ms. However, from
time to time the received PNIO-CM package is "stock" and is only handled when
receiving a new PNIO-CM or DCERPC-Ping packet (tcpdump shows the PNIO-CM and
the DCERPC-Ping packet at the same time but the PNIO-CM HW timestamp is from
the expected 40 ms and not the 2s delay of the DCERPC-Ping).
After debugging, we noticed PNIO, PNIO-CM and DCERPC-Ping packets would
be handled by different RX queues.
The root cause should be driver ack all queues' interrupt when handle a
specific queue in fec_enet_rx_queue(). The blamed patch is introduced to
receive as much packets as possible once to avoid interrupt flooding.
But it's unreasonable to clear other queues'interrupt when handling one
queue, this patch tries to fix it.

So at t=7 a new packets is started but not finished, probably due to rx
overrun - but rx overrun is not indicated in the flags. Instead a new
packets starts at t=8. This results in skb->len to exceed size for the LAST
fragment at t=13 and thus a negative fragment size added to the skb.
This then crashes:

When accessing the timecounter register on an i.MX8MQ the kernel hangs.
This is only the case when the interface is down. This can be reproduced
by reading with 'phc_ctrl eth0 get'.
Like described in the change in 91c0d987a9788dcc5fe26baafd73bf9242b68900
the igp clock is disabled when the interface is down and leads to a
system hang.
So we check if the ptp clock status before reading the timecounter
register.

Table 8-53 in the QUICC Engine Reference manual shows definitions of
fields up to a size of 192 bytes, not just 128. But in table 8-111,
one does find the text
Base Address of the Global Transmitter Parameter RAM Page. [...]
The user needs to allocate 128 bytes for this page. The address must
be aligned to the page size.
I've checked both rev. 7 (11/2015) and rev. 9 (05/2018) of the manual;
they both have this inconsistency (and the table numbers are the
same).
Adding a bit of debug printing, on my board the struct
ucc_geth_tx_global_pram is allocated at offset 0x880, while
the (opaque) ucc_geth_thread_data_tx gets allocated immediately
afterwards, at 0x900. So whatever the engine writes into the thread
data overlaps with the tail of the global tx pram (and devmem says
that something does get written during a simple ping).
I haven't observed any failure that could be attributed to this, but
it seems to be the kind of thing that would be extremely hard to
debug. So extend the struct definition so that we do allocate 192
bytes.

All the buffers and registers are already set up appropriately for an
MTU slightly above 1500, so we just need to expose this to the
networking stack. AFAICT, there's no need to implement .ndo_change_mtu
when the receive buffers are always set up to support the max_mtu.
This fixes several warnings during boot on our mpc8309-board with an
embedded mv88e6250 switch:
mv88e6085 mdio@e0102120:10: nonfatal error -34 setting MTU 1500 on port 0

ucc_geth e0102000.ethernet eth1: error -22 setting MTU to 1504 to include DSA overhead
The last line explains what the DSA stack tries to do: achieving an MTU
of 1500 on-the-wire requires that the master netdevice connected to
the CPU port supports an MTU of 1500+the tagging overhead.

[ Upstream commit d6a076d68c6b5d6a5800f3990a513facb7016dea ]
When PTP timestamping is enabled on Tx, the controller
inserts the Tx timestamp at the beginning of the frame
buffer, between SFD and the L2 frame header. This means
that the skb provided by the stack is required to have
enough headroom otherwise a new skb needs to be created
by the driver to accommodate the timestamp inserted by h/w.
Up until now the driver was relying on the second option,
using skb_realloc_headroom() to create a new skb to accommodate
PTP frames. Turns out that this method is not reliable, as
reallocation of skbs for PTP frames along with the required
overhead (skb_set_owner_w, consume_skb) is causing random
crashes in subsequent skb_*() calls, when multiple concurrent
TCP streams are run at the same time on the same device
(as seen in James' report).
Note that these crashes don't occur with a single TCP stream,
nor with multiple concurrent UDP streams, but only when multiple
TCP streams are run concurrently with the PTP packet flow
(doing skb reallocation).
This patch enforces the first method, by requesting enough
headroom from the stack to accommodate PTP frames, and so avoiding
skb_realloc_headroom() & co, and the crashes no longer occur.
There's no reason not to set needed_headroom to a large enough
value to accommodate PTP frames, so in this regard this patch
is a fix.

Up until now the driver was relying on skb_realloc_headroom()

this method is not reliable in this context at least, as
skb_realloc_headroom() for PTP frames can cause random crashes,
mostly in subsequent skb_*() calls, when multiple concurrent
TCP streams are run at the same time with the PTP flow
on the same device (as seen in James' report). I also noticed
that when the system is loaded by sending multiple TCP streams,
the driver receives cloned skbs in large numbers.
skb_cow_head() instead proves to be stable in this scenario,
and not only handles cloned skbs too but it's also more efficient
and widely used in other drivers.
The commit introducing skb_realloc_headroom in the driver
goes back to 2009, commit 93c1285c5d92
("gianfar: reallocate skb when headroom is not enough for fcb").
For practical purposes I'm referencing a newer commit (from 2012)
that brings the code to its current structure (and fixes the PTP
case).

The phy_reset_after_clk_enable() does a PHY reset, which means the PHY
loses its register settings. The fec_enet_mii_probe() starts the PHY
and does the necessary calls to configure the PHY via PHY framework,
and loads the correct register settings into the PHY. Therefore,
fec_enet_mii_probe() should be called only after the PHY has been
reset, not before as it is now.

The phy_reset_after_clk_enable() is always called with ndev->phydev,
however that pointer may be NULL even though the PHY device instance
already exists and is sufficient to perform the PHY reset.
This condition happens in fec_open(), where the clock must be enabled
first, then the PHY must be reset, and then the PHY IDs can be read
out of the PHY.
If the PHY still is not bound to the MAC, but there is OF PHY node
and a matching PHY device instance already, use the OF PHY node to
obtain the PHY device instance, and then use that PHY device instance
when triggering the PHY reset.

[ Upstream commit 79dde73cf9bcf1dd317a2667f78b758e9fe139ed ]
ugeth_quiesce/activate are used to halt the controller when there is a
link change that requires to reconfigure the mac.
The previous implementation called netif_device_detach(). This however
causes the initial activation of the netdevice to fail precisely because
it's detached. For details, see [1].
A possible workaround was the revert of commit
net: linkwatch: add check for netdevice being present to linkwatch_do_dev
However, the check introduced in the above commit is correct and shall be
kept.
The netif_device_detach() is thus replaced with
netif_tx_stop_all_queues() that prevents any tranmission. This allows to
perform mac config change required by the link change, without detaching
the corresponding netdevice and thus not preventing its initial
activation.

I ran into a randconfig build failure with CONFIG_FIXED_PHY=m
and CONFIG_GIANFAR=y:
x86_64-linux-ld: drivers/net/ethernet/freescale/gianfar.o:(.rodata+0x418): undefined reference to `fixed_phy_change_carrier'
It seems the same thing can happen with dpaa and ucc_geth, so change
all three to do an explicit 'select FIXED_PHY'.
The fixed-phy driver actually has an alternative stub function that
theoretically allows building network drivers when fixed-phy is
disabled, but I don't see how that would help here, as the drivers
presumably would not work then.

[ Upstream commit 5d14c304bfc14b4fd052dc83d5224376b48f52f0 ]
The dpaa-eth driver probes on compatible string for the MAC node, and
the fman/mac.c driver allocates a dpaa-ethernet platform device that
triggers the probing of the dpaa-eth net device driver.
All of this is fine, but the problem is that the struct device of the
dpaa_eth net_device is 2 parents away from the MAC which can be
referenced via of_node. So of_find_net_device_by_node can't find it, and
DSA switches won't be able to probe on top of FMan ports.
It would be a bit silly to modify a core function
(of_find_net_device_by_node) to look for dev->parent->parent->of_node
just for one driver. We're just 1 step away from implementing full
recursion.
Actually there have already been at least 2 previous attempts to make
this work:
- Commit a1a50c8e4c24 ("fsl/man: Inherit parent device and of_node")
- One or more of the patches in "[v3,0/6] adapt DPAA drivers for DSA":
https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/project/netdev/cover/1508178970-28945-1-git-send-email-madalin.bucur@nxp.com/
(I couldn't really figure out which one was supposed to solve the
problem and how).
Point being, it looks like this is still pretty much a problem today.
On T1040, the /sys/class/net/eth0 symlink currently points to
../../devices/platform/ffe000000.soc/ffe400000.fman/ffe4e6000.ethernet/dpaa-ethernet.0/net/eth0
which pretty much illustrates the problem. The closest of_node we've got
is the "fsl,fman-memac" at /soc@ffe000000/fman@400000/ethernet@e6000,
which is what we'd like to be able to reference from DSA as host port.
For of_find_net_device_by_node to find the eth0 port, we would need the
parent of the eth0 net_device to not be the "dpaa-ethernet" platform
device, but to point 1 level higher, aka the "fsl,fman-memac" node
directly. The new sysfs path would look like this:
../../devices/platform/ffe000000.soc/ffe400000.fman/ffe4e6000.ethernet/net/eth0
And this is exactly what SET_NETDEV_DEV does. It sets the parent of the
net_device. The new parent has an of_node associated with it, and
of_dev_node_match already checks for the of_node of the device or of its
parent.

[ Upstream commit da722186f6549d752ea5b5fbc18111833c81a133 ]
On some SoCs, such as the i.MX6, it is necessary to set a bit
in the SoC level GPR register before suspending for wake on lan
to work.
The fec platform callback sleep_mode_enable was intended to allow this
but the platform implementation was NAK'd back in 2015 [1]
This means that, currently, wake on lan is broken on mainline for
the i.MX6 at least.
So implement the required bit setting in the fec driver by itself
by adding a new optional DT property indicating the GPR register
and adding the offset and bit information to the driver.

[ Upstream commit c26a2c2ddc0115eb088873f5c309cf46b982f522 ]
The driver wrongly assumes that it is the only entity that can set the
SKBTX_IN_PROGRESS bit of the current skb. Therefore, in the
gfar_clean_tx_ring function, where the TX timestamp is collected if
necessary, the aforementioned bit is used to discriminate whether or not
the TX timestamp should be delivered to the socket's error queue.
But a stacked driver such as a DSA switch can also set the
SKBTX_IN_PROGRESS bit, which is actually exactly what it should do in
order to denote that the hardware timestamping process is undergoing.
Therefore, gianfar would misinterpret the "in progress" bit as being its
own, and deliver a second skb clone in the socket's error queue,
completely throwing off a PTP process which is not expecting to receive
it, _even though_ TX timestamping is not enabled for gianfar.
There have been discussions [0] as to whether non-MAC drivers need or
not to set SKBTX_IN_PROGRESS at all (whose purpose is to avoid sending 2
timestamps, a sw and a hw one, to applications which only expect one).
But as of this patch, there are at least 2 PTP drivers that would break
in conjunction with gianfar: the sja1105 DSA switch and the felix
switch, by way of its ocelot core driver.
So regardless of that conclusion, fix the gianfar driver to not do stuff
based on flags set by others and not intended for it.

commit a31eda65ba210741b598044d045480494d0ed52a upstream.
pm_runtime_put_autosuspend in probe will call runtime suspend to
disable clks automatically if CONFIG_PM is defined. (If CONFIG_PM
is not defined, its implementation will be empty, then runtime
suspend will not be called.)
Therefore, we can call pm_runtime_get_sync to runtime resume it
first to enable clks, which matches the runtime suspend. (Only when
CONFIG_PM is defined, otherwise pm_runtime_get_sync will also be
empty, then runtime resume will not be called.)
Then it is fine to disable clks without causing clock count mis-match.

[ Upstream commit e15aa3b2b1388c399c1a2ce08550d2cc4f7e3e14 ]
After a timeout event caused by for example a broadcast storm, when
the MAC and PHY are reset, the BQL TX queue needs to be reset as
well. Otherwise, the device will exhibit severe performance issues
even after the storm has ended.

[ Upstream commit ecb239d96d369c23c33d41708646df646de669f4 ]
After getting a reference to the platform device's of_node the probe
function ends up calling of_find_matching_node() using the node as an
argument. The function takes care of decreasing the refcount on it. We
are then incorrectly decreasing the refcount on that node again.
This patch removes the unwarranted call to of_node_put().

Commit db65f35f50e0 ("net: fec: add support of ethtool get_regs") introduce
ethool "--register-dump" interface to dump all FEC registers.
But not all silicon implementations of the Freescale FEC hardware module
have the FRBR (FIFO Receive Bound Register) and FRSR (FIFO Receive Start
Register) register, so we should not be trying to dump them on those that
don't.
To fix it we create a quirk flag, FEC_QUIRK_HAS_RFREG, and check it before
dump those RX FIFO registers.

During certain heavy network loads TX could time out
with TX ring dump.
TX is sometimes never restarted after reaching
"tx_stop_threshold" because function "fec_enet_tx_queue"
only tests the first queue.
In addition the TX timeout callback function failed to
recover because it also operated only on the first queue.
