2022-01-27media: rcar-csi2: Optimize the selection PHTW registerSuresh Udipi
commit 549cc89cd09a85aaa16dc07ef3db811d5cf9bcb1 upstream. PHTW register is selected based on default bit rate from Table[1]. for the bit rates less than or equal to 250. Currently first value of default bit rate which is greater than or equal to the caculated mbps is selected. This selection can be further improved by selecting the default bit rate which is nearest to the calculated value. [ Upstream commit cee44d4fbacbbdfe62697ec94e76c6e4f726c5df ] hsfreqrange should be chosen based on the calculated mbps which is closer to the default bit rate and within the range as per table[1]. But current calculation always selects first value which is greater than or equal to the calculated mbps which may lead to chosing a wrong range in some cases. For example for 360 mbps for H3/M3N Existing logic selects Calculated value 360Mbps : Default 400Mbps Range [368.125 -433.125 mbps] This hsfreqrange is out of range. The logic is changed to get the default value which is closest to the calculated value [1] Calculated value 360Mbps : Default 350Mbps Range [320.625 -380.625 mpbs] [1] specs r19uh0105ej0200-r-car-3rd-generation.pdf [Table 25.9] Please note that According to Renesas in Table 25.9 the range for 220 default value is corrected as below |Range (Mbps) | Default Bit rate (Mbps) | ----------------------------------------------- | 197.125-244.125 | 220 | ----------------------------------------------- Fixes: 769afd212b16 ("media: rcar-csi2: add Renesas R-Car MIPI CSI-2 receiver driver") Signed-off-by: Suresh Udipi <sudipi@jp.adit-jv.com> Signed-off-by: Kazuyoshi Akiyama <akiyama@nds-osk.co.jp> Signed-off-by: Michael Rodin <mrodin@de.adit-jv.com> Reviewed-by: Niklas Söderlund <niklas.soderlund+renesas@ragnatech.se> Signed-off-by: Hans Verkuil <hverkuil-cisco@xs4all.nl> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab+huawei@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Sasha Levin <sashal@kernel.org>

2021-07-20media: subdev: disallow ioctl for saa6588/davinciArnd Bergmann
commit 0a7790be182d32b9b332a37cb4206e24fe94b728 upstream. The saa6588_ioctl() function expects to get called from other kernel functions with a 'saa6588_command' pointer, but I found nothing stops it from getting called from user space instead, which seems rather dangerous. The same thing happens in the davinci vpbe driver with its VENC_GET_FLD command. As a quick fix, add a separate .command() callback pointer for this driver and change the two callers over to that. This change can easily get backported to stable kernels if necessary, but since there are only two drivers, we may want to eventually replace this with a set of more specialized callbacks in the long run. Because of recent interactions with developers from @umn.edu, all commits from them have been recently re-reviewed to ensure if they were correct or not. Upon review, it was determined that this commit is not needed at all as the media core already prevents memory disclosure on this codepath, so just drop the extra memset happening here. [ Upstream commit 27c3943683f74e35e1d390ceb2e3639eff616ad6 ] mtk_vcodec_release_dec_pm() will be called in two places: a. mtk_vcodec_init_dec_pm() succeed while mtk_vcodec_probe() return error. b. mtk_vcodec_dec_remove(). [ Upstream commit bbe516e976fce538db96bd2b7287df942faa14a3 ] pm_runtime_get_sync() increments the runtime PM usage counter even when it returns an error code. Thus a pairing decrement is needed on the error handling path to keep the counter balanced. For other error paths after this call, things are the same. Fix this by adding pm_runtime_put_noidle() after 'err_runtime_disable' label. But in this case, the error path after pm_runtime_put_sync() will decrease PM usage counter twice. Thus add an extra pm_runtime_get_noresume() in this path to balance PM counter.
