2024-01-25coresight: etm4x: Fix width of CCITMIN fieldJames Clark
commit cc0271a339cc70cae914c3ec20edc2a8058407da upstream. CCITMIN is a 12 bit field and doesn't fit in a u8, so extend it to u16. This probably wasn't an issue previously because values higher than 255 never occurred. [ Upstream commit fd380097cdb305582b7a1f9476391330299d2c59 ] Perf cs_etm session executed unexpectedly when AUX buffer > 1G. perf record -C 0 -m ,2G -e cs_etm// -- <workload> [ perf record: Captured and wrote 2.615 MB perf.data ] Perf only collect about 2M perf data rather than 2G. This is becasuse the operation, "nr_pages << PAGE_SHIFT", in coresight tmc driver, will overflow when nr_pages >= 0x80000(correspond to 1G AUX buffer). The overflow cause buffer allocation to fail, and TMC driver will alloc minimal buffer size(1M). You can just get about 2M perf data(1M AUX buffer + perf data header) at least. Explicit convert nr_pages to 64 bit to avoid overflow. 2023-05-30coresight: Fix signedness bug in tmc_etr_buf_insert_barrier_packet()Dan Carpenter

This code generates a Smatch warning: drivers/hwtracing/coresight/coresight-tmc-etr.c:947 tmc_etr_buf_insert_barrier_packet() error: uninitialized symbol 'bufp'. The problem is that if tmc_sg_table_get_data() returns -EINVAL, then when we test if "len < CORESIGHT_BARRIER_PKT_SIZE", the negative "len" value is type promoted to a high unsigned long value which is greater than CORESIGHT_BARRIER_PKT_SIZE. Fix this bug by adding an explicit check for error codes. 2022-08-25coresight: Clear the connection field properlySuzuki K Poulose
commit 2af89ebacf299b7fba5f3087d35e8a286ec33706 upstream. coresight devices track their connections (output connections) and hold a reference to the fwnode. When a device goes away, we walk through the devices on the coresight bus and make sure that the references are dropped. This happens both ways: a) For all output connections from the device, drop the reference to the target device via coresight_release_platform_data() b) Iterate over all the devices on the coresight bus and drop the reference to fwnode if *this* device is the target of the output connection, via coresight_remove_conns()->coresight_remove_match(). However, the coresight_remove_match() doesn't clear the fwnode field, after dropping the reference, this causes use-after-free and additional refcount drops on the fwnode. e.g., if we have two devices, A and B, with a connection, A -> B. If we remove B first, B would clear the reference on B, from A via coresight_remove_match(). But when A is removed, it still has a connection with fwnode still pointing to B. 2022-06-14coresight: cpu-debug: Replace mutex with mutex_trylock on panic notifierGuilherme G. Piccoli
[ Upstream commit 1adff542d67a2ed1120955cb219bfff8a9c53f59 ] The panic notifier infrastructure executes registered callbacks when a panic event happens - such callbacks are executed in atomic context, with interrupts and preemption disabled in the running CPU and all other CPUs disabled. That said, mutexes in such context are not a good idea. This patch replaces a regular mutex with a mutex_trylock safer approach; given the nature of the mutex used in the driver, it should be pretty uncommon being unable to acquire such mutex in the panic path, hence no functional change should be observed (and if it is, that would be likely a deadlock with the regular mutex). 2022-04-15coresight: Fix TRCCONFIGR.QE sysfs interfaceJames Clark
commit ea75a342aed5ed72c87f38fbe0df2f5df7eae374 upstream. It's impossible to program a valid value for TRCCONFIGR.QE when TRCIDR0.QSUPP==0b10. In that case the following is true: Q element support is implemented, and only supports Q elements without instruction counts. TRCCONFIGR.QE can only take the values 0b00 or 0b11. Currently the low bit of QSUPP is checked to see if the low bit of QE can be written to, but as you can see when QSUPP==0b10 the low bit is cleared making it impossible to ever write the only valid value of 0b11 to QE. 0b10 would be written instead, which is a reserved QE value even for all values of QSUPP. The fix is to allow writing the low bit of QE for any non zero value of QSUPP. This change also ensures that the low bit is always set, even when the user attempts to only set the high bit. 2020-12-30coresight: etb10: Fix possible NULL ptr dereference in etb_enable_perf()Sai Prakash Ranjan

It is almost 100% reproducible when the process to monitor is something very active such as chrome and with ETF as the sink, not ETR. But code path shows that ETB has a similar path as ETF, so there could be possible NULL pointer dereference crash in ETB as well. Currently in a bid to find the pid, the owner is dereferenced via task_pid_nr() call in etb_enable_perf() and with owner being NULL, we can get a NULL pointer dereference, so have a similar fix as ETF where we cache PID in alloc_buffer() callback which is called as the part of etm_setup_aux(). 2020-12-30coresight: tmc-etr: Fix barrier packet insertion for perf bufferSuzuki K Poulose

When the ETR is used in perf mode with a larger buffer (configured via sysfs or the default size of 1M) than the perf aux buffer size, we end up inserting the barrier packet at the wrong offset, while moving the offset forward. i.e, instead of the "new moved offset", we insert it at the current hardware buffer offset. These packets will not be visible as they are never copied and could lead to corruption in the trace decoding side, as the decoder is not aware that it needs to reset the decoding. It is almost 100% reproducible when the process to monitor is something very active such as chrome and with ETF as the sink and not ETR. Currently in a bid to find the pid, the owner is dereferenced via task_pid_nr() call in tmc_enable_etf_sink_perf() and with owner being NULL, we get a NULL pointer dereference. Looking at the ETR and other places in the kernel, ETF and the ETB are the only places trying to dereference the task(owner) in tmc_enable_etf_sink_perf() which is also called from the sched_in path as in the call trace. Owner(task) is NULL even in the case of ETR in tmc_enable_etr_sink_perf(), but since we cache the PID in alloc_buffer() callback and it is done as part of etm_setup_aux() when allocating buffer for ETR sink, we never dereference this NULL pointer and we are safe. So lets do the same thing with ETF and cache the PID to which the cs_buffer belongs in tmc_alloc_etf_buffer() as done for ETR. This will also remove the unnecessary function calls(task_pid_nr()) since we are caching the PID. To fix this, coresight_get_enabled_sink API is updated to do a connection based search starting from the given source, instead of bus based search. With sink selection using sysfs depecrated for perf interface, provision for reset is removed as well in this API. 2019-12-17coresight: Serialize enabling/disabling a link device.Yabin Cui

When tracing etm data of multiple threads on multiple cpus through perf interface, some link devices are shared between paths of different cpus. It creates race conditions when different cpus wants to enable/disable the same link device at the same time. Example 1: Two cpus want to enable different ports of a coresight funnel, thus calling the funnel enable operation at the same time. But the funnel enable operation isn't reentrantable. Example 2: For an enabled coresight dynamic replicator with refcnt=1, one cpu wants to disable it, while another cpu wants to enable it. Ideally we still have an enabled replicator with refcnt=1 at the end. But in reality the result is uncertain. Since coresight devices claim themselves when enabled for self-hosted usage, the race conditions above usually make the link devices not usable after many cycles. To fix the race conditions, this patch uses spinlocks to serialize enabling/disabling link devices. 2019-09-03coresight: tmc-etr: Decouple buffer sync and barrier packet insertionMathieu Poirier
If less space is available in the perf ring buffer than the ETR buffer, barrier packets inserted in the trace stream by tmc_sync_etr_buf() are skipped over when the head of the buffer is moved forward, resulting in traces that can't be decoded. This patch decouples the process of syncing ETR buffers and the addition of barrier packets in order to perform the latter once the offset in the trace buffer has been properly computed. 2019-09-03coresight: tmc-etr: Fix perf_data checkYabin Cui
When tracing etm data of multiple threads on multiple cpus through perf interface, each cpu has a unique etr_perf_buffer while sharing the same etr device. There is no guarantee that the last cpu starts etm tracing also stops last. This makes perf_data check fail. Fix it by checking etr_buf instead of etr_perf_buffer. Also move the code setting and clearing perf_buf to more suitable places. TMC etr always copies all available data to perf aux buffer, which may exceed the available space in perf aux buffer. It isn't suitable for not-snapshot mode, because: 1) It may overwrite previously written data. 2) It may make the perf_event_mmap_page->aux_head report having more or less data than the reality. So change to only copy the latest data fitting the available space in perf aux buffer. 2019-09-03coresight: etm4x: Use explicit barriers on enable/disableAndrew Murray
Synchronization is recommended before disabling the trace registers to prevent any start or stop points being speculative at the point of disabling the unit (section 7.3.77 of ARM IHI 0064D). Synchronization is also recommended after programming the trace registers to ensure all updates are committed prior to normal code resuming (section 4.3.7 of ARM IHI 0064D). Let's ensure these syncronization points are present in the code and clearly commented. Note that we could rely on the barriers in CS_LOCK and coresight_disclaim_device_unlocked or the context switch to user space - however coresight may be of use in the kernel. On armv8 the mb macro is defined as dsb(sy) - Given that the etm4x is only used on armv8 let's directly use dsb(sy) instead of mb(). This removes some ambiguity and makes it easier to correlate the code with the TRM. Instead of overriding the peripheral id(PID) check in AMBA by hardcoding them in DT, add the PIDs to the ETM4x driver. Here we use Unique Component Identifier(UCI) for MSM8996 since the ETM and CPU debug module shares the same PIDs. SDM845 does not support CPU debug module. 2019-07-04coresight: Do not default to CPU0 for missing CPU phandleSai Prakash Ranjan
Coresight platform support assumes that a missing "cpu" phandle defaults to CPU0. This could be problematic and unnecessarily binds components to CPU0, where they may not be. In coresight etm and cpu-debug drivers, abort the probe for such cases.
