2021-06-30treewide: Add missing semicolons to __assign_str usesJoe Perches
The __assign_str macro has an unusual ending semicolon but the vast majority of uses of the macro already have semicolon termination. $ git grep -P '\b__assign_str\b' | wc -l 551 $ git grep -P '\b__assign_str\b.*;' | wc -l 480 Add semicolons to the __assign_str() uses without semicolon termination and all the other uses without semicolon termination via additional defines that are equivalent to __assign_str() with the eventual goal of removing the semicolon from the __assign_str() macro definition. 2021-02-09drm/scheduler: Job timeout handler returns status (v3)Luben Tuikov
This patch does not change current behaviour. The driver's job timeout handler now returns status indicating back to the DRM layer whether the device (GPU) is no longer available, such as after it's been unplugged, or whether all is normal, i.e. current behaviour. All drivers which make use of the drm_sched_backend_ops' .timedout_job() callback have been accordingly renamed and return the would've-been default value of DRM_GPU_SCHED_STAT_NOMINAL to restart the task's timeout timer--this is the old behaviour, and is preserved by this patch. v2: Use enum as the status of a driver's job timeout callback method. v3: Return scheduler/device information, rather than task information. 2020-11-24drm/shmem-helper: Use cached mappings by defaultThomas Zimmermann
SHMEM-buffer backing storage is allocated from system memory; which is typically cachable. The default mode for SHMEM objects is writecombine though. Unify SHMEM semantics by defaulting to cached mappings. The exception is pages imported via dma-buf. DMA memory is usually not cached. DRM drivers that require write-combined mappings set the map_wc flag in struct drm_gem_shmem_object to true. This currently affects lima, panfrost and v3d. The drivers mgag200, udl, virtio and vkms continue to use default shmem mappings. The drivers cirrus and gm12u320 change caching flags. Both used writecombine and now switch over to shmem defaults. Both drivers use SHMEM objects as shadow buffers for internal video memory, so cached mappings will not affect them negatively. v3: * set value of shmem pointer before dereferencing it in __drm_gem_shmem_create() (Dan, kernel test robot) v2: * recreate patch on top of latest SHMEM helpers * update lima, panfrost, v3d to select writecombine (Daniel, Rob) Signed-off-by: Thomas Zimmermann <tzimmermann@suse.de> Acked-by: Maxime Ripard <mripard@kernel.org> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20201117133156.26822-2-tzimmermann@suse.de

2020-11-09drm/gem: Use struct dma_buf_map in GEM vmap ops and convert GEM backendsThomas Zimmermann
This patch replaces the vmap/vunmap's use of raw pointers in GEM object functions with instances of struct dma_buf_map. GEM backends are converted as well. For most of them, this simply changes the returned type. TTM-based drivers now return information about the location of the memory, either system or I/O memory. 2020-11-06drm/<drivers>: Constify struct drm_driverDaniel Vetter
Only the following drivers aren't converted: - amdgpu, because of the driver_feature mangling due to virt support. Subsequent patch will address this. - nouveau, because DRIVER_ATOMIC uapi is still not the default on the platforms where it's supported (i.e. again driver_feature mangling) - vc4, again because of driver_feature mangling - qxl, because the ioctl table is somewhere else and moving that is maybe a bit too much, hence the num_ioctls assignment prevents a const driver structure. - arcpgu, because that is stuck behind a pending tiny-fication series from me. - legacy drivers, because legacy requires non-const drm_driver. Note that for armada I also went ahead and made the ioctl array const. Only cc'ing the driver people who've not been converted (everyone else is way too much). v2: Fix one misplaced const static, should be static const (0day) v3: - Improve commit message (Sam) Acked-by: Sam Ravnborg <sam@ravnborg.org> Cc: kernel test robot <lkp@intel.com> Acked-by: Maxime Ripard <mripard@kernel.org> Reviewed-by: Alex Deucher <alexander.deucher@amd.com> Signed-off-by: Daniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch> Cc: Sam Ravnborg <sam@ravnborg.org> Cc: Dave Airlie <airlied@redhat.com> Cc: Gerd Hoffmann <kraxel@redhat.com> Cc: virtualization@lists.linux-foundation.org Cc: Harry Wentland <harry.wentland@amd.com> Cc: Leo Li <sunpeng.li@amd.com> Cc: Alex Deucher <alexander.deucher@amd.com> Cc: Christian König <christian.koenig@amd.com> Cc: Eric Anholt <eric@anholt.net> Cc: Maxime Ripard <mripard@kernel.org> Cc: Ben Skeggs <bskeggs@redhat.com> Cc: nouveau@lists.freedesktop.org Signed-off-by: Daniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@intel.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20201104100425.1922351-5-daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch
2020-09-10drm: lima: fix common struct sg_table related issuesMarek Szyprowski
The Documentation/DMA-API-HOWTO.txt states that the dma_map_sg() function returns the number of the created entries in the DMA address space. However the subsequent calls to the dma_sync_sg_for_{device,cpu}() and dma_unmap_sg must be called with the original number of the entries passed to the dma_map_sg(). struct sg_table is a common structure used for describing a non-contiguous memory buffer, used commonly in the DRM and graphics subsystems. It consists of a scatterlist with memory pages and DMA addresses (sgl entry), as well as the number of scatterlist entries: CPU pages (orig_nents entry) and DMA mapped pages (nents entry). It turned out that it was a common mistake to misuse nents and orig_nents entries, calling DMA-mapping functions with a wrong number of entries or ignoring the number of mapped entries returned by the dma_map_sg() function. To avoid such issues, lets use a common dma-mapping wrappers operating directly on the struct sg_table objects and use scatterlist page iterators where possible. This, almost always, hides references to the nents and orig_nents entries, making the code robust, easier to follow and copy/paste safe. 2020-03-28drm/lima: Add optional devfreq and cooling device supportMartin Blumenstingl
Most platforms with a Mali-400 or Mali-450 GPU also have support for changing the GPU clock frequency. Add devfreq support so the GPU clock rate is updated based on the actual GPU usage when the "operating-points-v2" property is present in the board.dts. The actual devfreq code is taken from panfrost_devfreq.c and modified so it matches what the lima hardware needs: - a call to dev_pm_opp_set_clkname() during initialization because there are two clocks on Mali-4x0 IPs. "core" is the one that actually clocks the GPU so we need to control it using devfreq. - locking when reading or writing the devfreq statistics because (unlike than panfrost) we have multiple PP and GP IRQs which may finish jobs concurrently.
