AHCI_XGENE is only applicable on ARM64 but it can also be enabled for
compile testing; however, AHCI_XGENE selects PHY_XGENE which has other
arch specific dependencies. This leads to the following warning when
enabling it on other archs for compile testing.
warning: (AHCI_XGENE) selects PHY_XGENE which has unmet direct
dependencies (HAS_IOMEM && OF && (ARM64 || COMPILE_TEST))
Selecting a config option which itself has dependencies can easily
lead to broken configurations. For now, let's just make AHCI_XGENE
depend on PHY_XGENE which has all the necessary dependencies already.

"A lot of activities on libata side this time.
- A lot of changes around ahci. Various embedded platforms are
implementing ahci controllers. Some were built atop ahci_platform,
others were doing their own things. Hans made some structural
changes to libahci and librarized ahci_platform so that ahci
platform drivers can share more common code. A couple platform
drivers are added on top of that and several are added to replace
older drivers which were doing their own things (older ones are
scheduled to be removed).
- Dan finishes the patchset to make libata PM operations
asynchronous. Combined with one patch being routed through scsi,
this should speed resume measurably.

Make sata_mv host driver depend on PCI || ARCH_DOVE || ARCH_KIRKWOOD ||
ARCH_MV78XX0 || ARCH_MVEBU || ARCH_ORION5X config options as Marvell
SATA support covers both Marvell PCI devices and Marvell Dove, Kirkwood,
MV78xx0, Armada 370/XP and Orion5x SoCs (for non-PCI devices the driver
to work requires suitable device tree node or platform device to be
defined). Additionally allow the driver build if COMPILE_TEST config

Add the new ahci_da850 host driver.
Platform changes needed to make DaVinci DA850 SATA AHCI support
fully functional are in the separate "ARM: davinci: da850: update
SATA AHCI support" commit.
Please note that this driver doesn't have the superfluous clock
control code as clock is already handled by the generic AHCI
platform library code.

This patch adds support for the APM X-Gene SoC AHCI SATA host controller
driver. It requires the corresponding APM X-Gene SoC PHY driver. This
initial version only supports Gen3 speed.

The SC1200 is a SoC based on the Geode GX1 32-bit x86 processor, so
its drivers are only needed on this architecture, except for build
testing purpose.

This device is designed specifically to run on ST-Microelectronics'

accepted as the standard. This patch brings any mention of the the ST

As far as I know, the CS5520 and CS5530 chipsets were only used with
32-bit x86 Geode processors, so I think their drivers are only needed
on this architecture, except for build testing purpose.
While we're here, simplify the dependencies for the CS5535 driver.
The CS5536 was used with the Geode processors, but also on MIPS
Loongson/Lemote 2 systems, so let its driver be built for these two
architectures only, except for build testing purpose.

This patch adds support for the ahci sata controler found on Allwinner A10
and A20 SoCs to the ahci_platform driver.
Orignally written by Olliver Schinagl using the approach of having a platform
device which probe method creates a new child platform device which gets
driven by ahci_platform.c, as done by ahci_imx.c .
Refactored by Hans de Goede to add most of the non sunxi specific functionality
to ahci_platform.c and use a platform_data pointer from of_device_id for the
sunxi specific bits.

SATA_MV depends on GENERIC_PHY. So if SATA_MV is built in, GENERIC_PHY

ahci_imx makes use of regmap but the dependency wasn't specified in
Kconfig leading build failures if CONFIG_AHCI_IMX is enabled but

imx6q contains one Synopsys AHCI SATA controller, But it can't share
ahci_platform driver with other controllers because there are some
misalignments of the generic AHCI controller - the bits definitions of
the HBA registers, the Vendor Specific registers, the AHCI PHY clock
and the AHCI signals adjustment window(GPR13 register).
- CAP_SSS(bit20) of the HOST_CAP is writable, default value is '0',
should be configured to be '1'
- bit0 (only one AHCI SATA port on imx6q) of the HOST_PORTS_IMPL
should be set to be '1'.(default 0)
- One Vendor Specific register HOST_TIMER1MS(offset:0xe0) should be
configured regarding to the frequency of AHB bus clock.
- Configurations of the AHCI PHY clock, and the signal parameters of
the GPR13
Setup its own ahci sata driver, contained the imx6q specific
initialized codes, re-use the generic ahci_platform driver, and keep
the generic ahci_platform driver clean as much as possible.

sata_inic162x never reached a state where it's reliable enough for
production use and data corruption is a relatively common occurrence.
Make the driver generate warning about the issues and mark the Kconfig
option as experimental.
If the situation doesn't improve, we'd be better off making it depend
on CONFIG_BROKEN. Let's wait for several cycles and see if the kernel
message draws any attention.

CAVIUM_OCTEON_SOC most place we used to use CPU_CAVIUM_OCTEON. This
allows us to CPU_CAVIUM_OCTEON in places where we have no OCTEON SOC.
Remove CAVIUM_OCTEON_SIMULATOR as it doesn't really do anything, we can
get the same configuration with CAVIUM_OCTEON_SOC.

The motivation for this is to allow the driver to be
used with the r8a7790 SoC.
I believe that rather than adding another SoC to the list of allowed SoCs
it is better to simply remove the dependency of the driver on shmobile all
together.

ODD is not a common TLA for non-ATA people so they will get confused
by its meaning when they are configuring the kernel. This patch fixed
this problem by using ODD only after stating what it is.

number. Discussion was continuing after patch application, trying to
figure out how to best mesh exported data with the installers,
boot-time agents and other parties that want this info.
2) Merge Zero-Power Optical Device Driver (ZPODD) support, bringing the
wonderfulness of sane power management to your CD/DVD device.
Includes one SCSI-subsystem patch (with appropriate ACKs), adding
runtime PM support to 'sr' driver. That is the ZPODD interaction
bits.
Patchset went through some 13 revisions before it got here; kudos to
Intel for persistence.
3) pata_samsung_cf: use devm_clk_get()
4) more ata_piix, ahci PCI IDs
5) Add SATA driver for R-Car SoC
6) Convert libata to use devm_ioremap_resource (Note: I think Greg sent
this to you, also)
7) Set proper Sense Key (SK) in the SCSI simulator when ATA passthrough
indicates check condition. Google and specification hawks everywhere
shall rejoice.

"The most prominent change in this patch set is the software dirty bit
patch for s390. It removes __HAVE_ARCH_PAGE_TEST_AND_CLEAR_DIRTY and
the page_test_and_clear_dirty primitive which makes the common memory
management code a bit less obscure.
Heiko fixed most of the PCI related fallout, more often than not
missing GENERIC_HARDIRQS dependencies. Notable is one of the 3270

The CONFIG_EXPERIMENTAL config item has not carried much meaning for a
while now and is almost always enabled by default. As agreed during the
Linux kernel summit, remove it from any "depends on" lines in Kconfigs.

The ODD can be enabled for ZPODD if the following three conditions are
satisfied:
1 The ODD supports device attention;
2 The platform can runtime power off the ODD through ACPI;
3 The ODD is either slot type or drawer type.
For such ODDs, zpodd_init is called and a new structure is allocated for
it to store ZPODD related stuffs.
And the zpodd_dev_enabled function is used to test if ZPODD is currently
enabled for this ODD.
A new config CONFIG_SATA_ZPODD is added to selectively build ZPODD code.

Calxeda highbank SATA phy has intermittent problems bringing up a link
with Gen3 drives. Retrying the phy hard reset can work-around this issue,
but each reset also disables spread spectrum support. The reset function
also needs to reprogram the phy to enable spread spectrum support.
Create a new driver based on ahci_platform to support the Calxeda Highbank
SATA controller.

I followed the advice to not use the deprecated old PATA subsystem
ATA/ATAPI/MFM/RLL support (DEPRECATED) --->
and use the ATA subsystem instead.
Serial ATA and Parallel ATA drivers --->
Unfortunately I needed several tries to find out, that I needed the SFF
menu I had not selected before because I had never heard that term
before. I think it would have helped me, to have PATA or legacy IDE in
that item’s name.

CONFIG_OF_IRQ is not available on some platforms and using of_irq_*
breaks the build. Since resources are already populated in the platform
device, get the irq from there instead.

QDI65x0 controllers are fully supported by pata_legacy driver
so remove no longer needed pata_qdi driver.
Leave PATA_QDI config option for compatibility reasons and teach
pata_legacy to preserve the old behavior of pata_qdi driver.

Add basic support for pata on iMX. It has been tested only on imx51.
SDMA support will probably be added later so this version supports only
PIO.

The Arasan CompactFlash Device Controller has three basic modes of
operation: PC card ATA using I/O mode, PC card ATA using memory mode, PC card
ATA using true IDE modes.
Currently driver supports only True IDE mode.

The meaning of CONFIG_EMBEDDED has long since been obsoleted; the option
is used to configure any non-standard kernel with a much larger scope than
only small devices.
This patch renames the option to CONFIG_EXPERT in init/Kconfig and fixes
references to the option throughout the kernel. A new CONFIG_EMBEDDED
option is added that automatically selects CONFIG_EXPERT when enabled and
can be used in the future to isolate options that should only be
considered for embedded systems (RISC architectures, SLOB, etc).
Calling the option "EXPERT" more accurately represents its intention: only
expert users who understand the impact of the configuration changes they
are making should enable it.

CONFIG_HAVE_PATA_PLATFORM, by virtue of where its defined, has a
dependency on CONFG_ATA and CONFIG_ATA_SFF. This causes Kconfig
warnings when it is selected by various architectures, such as
warning: (ARCH_VEXPRESS && <choice> || ARCH_RPC && <choice> || MACH_VPAC270 && ARCH_PXA || MACH_REALVIEW_PB11MP && ARCH_REALVIEW || MACH_REALVIEW_PBA8 && ARCH_REALVIEW || MACH_REALVIEW_PBX && ARCH_REALVIEW || MACH_BAST_IDE && ARCH_S3C2410 || MACH_ANUBIS && ARCH_S3C2410) selects HAVE_PATA_PLATFORM which has unmet direct dependencies (ATA && ATA_SFF)
Since this option is only used to control visibility of the
CONFIG_PATA_PLATFORM option and isn't itself visible in the menu,
it is straightforward to simply remove these dependencies rather
than adjust all the architectures.

pata_cs5536 does work on the other platforms(e.g. Loongson, a MIPS
variant), so, remove the dependency of X86_32 and fix the building
errors under the other platforms via only reserving the X86_32 specific
parts for X86_32.
pata_amd also supports cs5536 IDE controller, but this one saves about
33k for the compressed kernel image(vmlinuz for MIPS).
