2020-04-29powerpc/setup_64: Set cache-line-size based on cache-block-sizeChris Packham
commit 94c0b013c98583614e1ad911e8795ca36da34a85 upstream. If {i,d}-cache-block-size is set and {i,d}-cache-line-size is not, use the block-size value for both. Per the devicetree spec cache-line-size is only needed if it differs from the block size. Originally the code would fallback from block size to line size. An error message was printed if both properties were missing. Later the code was refactored to use clearer names and logic but it inadvertently made line size a required property, meaning on systems without a line size property we fall back to the default from the cputable. On powernv (OPAL) platforms, since the introduction of device tree CPU features (5a61ef74f269 ("powerpc/64s: Support new device tree binding for discovering CPU features")), that has led to the wrong value being used, as the fallback value is incorrect for Power8/Power9 CPUs. 2020-04-29ARM: imx: provide v7_cpu_resume() only on ARM_CPU_SUSPEND=yAhmad Fatoum
commit f1baca8896ae18e12c45552a4c4ae2086aa7e02c upstream. 512a928affd5 ("ARM: imx: build v7_cpu_resume() unconditionally") introduced an unintended linker error for i.MX6 configurations that have ARM_CPU_SUSPEND=n which can happen if neither CONFIG_PM, CONFIG_CPU_IDLE, nor ARM_PSCI_FW are selected. Fix this by having v7_cpu_resume() compiled only when cpu_resume() it calls is available as well. The C declaration for the function remains unguarded to avoid future code inadvertently using a stub and introducing a regression to the bug the original commit fixed. The index can be out-of-bounds if the specified gfn is less than the base of the lowest memslot (which is also the last valid memslot). Note, the sole caller, kvm_s390_get_cmma(), ensures used_slots is non-zero. 2020-04-29powerpc/pseries: Fix MCE handling on pseriesGanesh Goudar
[ Upstream commit a95a0a1654f16366360399574e10efd87e867b39 ] MCE handling on pSeries platform fails as recent rework to use common code for pSeries and PowerNV in machine check error handling tries to access per-cpu variables in realmode. The per-cpu variables may be outside the RMO region on pSeries platform and needs translation to be enabled for access. Just moving these per-cpu variable into RMO region did'nt help because we queue some work to workqueues in real mode, which again tries to touch per-cpu variables. Also fwnmi_release_errinfo() cannot be called when translation is not enabled. This patch fixes this by enabling translation in the exception handler when all required real mode handling is done. This change only affects the pSeries platform. enabled" [ Upstream commit abc3fce76adbdfa8f87272c784b388cd20b46049 ] This reverts commit ebb37cf3ffd39fdb6ec5b07111f8bb2f11d92c5f. That commit does not play well with soft-masked irq state manipulations in idle, interrupt replay, and possibly others due to tracing code sometimes using irq_work_queue (e.g., in trace_hardirqs_on()). That can cause PACA_IRQ_DEC to become set when it is not expected, and be ignored or cleared or cause warnings. The net result seems to be missing an irq_work until the next timer interrupt in the worst case which is usually not going to be noticed, however it could be a long time if the tick is disabled, which is against the spirit of irq_work and might cause real problems. The idea is still solid, but it would need more work. It's not really clear if it would be worth added complexity, so revert this for now (not a straight revert, but replace with a comment explaining why we might see interrupts happening, and gives git blame something to find). [ Upstream commit ee9d90be9ddace01b7fb126567e4b539fbe1f82f ] Systems affected by Neoverse-N1 #1542419 support DIC so do not need to perform icache maintenance once new instructions are cleaned to the PoU. For the errata workaround, the kernel hides DIC from user-space, so that the unnecessary cache maintenance can be trapped by firmware. To reduce the number of traps, produce a fake IminLine value based on PAGE_SIZE. [ Upstream commit 35f3401317a3b26aa01fde8facfd320f2628fdcc ] When building UML with glibc 2.17 installed, compilation of arch/um/os-Linux/file.c fails due to failure to find FALLOC_FL_PUNCH_HOLE and FALLOC_FL_KEEP_SIZE definitions. It appears that /usr/include/bits/fcntl-linux.h (indirectly included by /usr/include/fcntl.h) does not include falloc.h with an older glibc, whereas a more up-to-date version does. Adding the direct include to file.c resolves the issue and does not cause problems for more recent glibc. 2020-04-23csky: Fixup cpu speculative execution to IO areaGuo Ren
[ Upstream commit aefd9461d34a1b0a2acad0750c43216c1c27b9d4 ] For the memory size ( > 512MB, < 1GB), the MSA setting is: - SSEG0: PHY_START , PHY_START + 512MB - SSEG1: PHY_START + 512MB, PHY_START + 1GB But the real memory is no more than 1GB, there is a gap between the end size of memory and border of 1GB. CPU could speculatively execute to that gap and if the gap of the bus couldn't respond to the CPU request, then the crash will happen. Now make the setting with: - SSEG0: PHY_START , PHY_START + 512MB (no change) - SSEG1: Disabled (We use highmem to use the memory of 512MB~1GB) We also deprecated zhole_szie[] settings, it's only used by arm style CPUs. 2020-04-23KVM: s390: vsie: Fix possible race when shadowing region 3 tablesDavid Hildenbrand
[ Upstream commit 1493e0f944f3c319d11e067c185c904d01c17ae5 ] We have to properly retry again by returning -EINVAL immediately in case somebody else instantiated the table concurrently. We missed to add the goto in this function only. The code now matches the other, similar shadowing functions. We are overwriting an existing region 2 table entry. All allocated pages are added to the crst_list to be freed later, so they are not lost forever. However, when unshadowing the region 2 table, we wouldn't trigger unshadowing of the original shadowed region 3 table that we replaced. It would get unshadowed when the original region 3 table is modified. As it's not connected to the page table hierarchy anymore, it's not going to get used anymore. However, for a limited time, this page table will stick around, so it's in some sense a temporary memory leak. Identified by manual code inspection. I don't think this classifies as stable material. [ Upstream commit 4141b6a5e9f171325effc36a22eb92bf961e7a5c ] When perf record -e SF_CYCLES_BASIC_DIAG runs with very high frequency, the samples arrive faster than the perf process can save them to file. Eventually, for longer running processes, this leads to the siutation where the trace buffers allocated by perf slowly fills up. At one point the auxiliary trace buffer is full and the CPU Measurement sampling facility is turned off. Furthermore a warning is printed to the kernel log buffer: cpum_sf: The AUX buffer with 0 pages for the diagnostic-sampling mode is full The number of allocated pages for the auxiliary trace buffer is shown as zero pages. That is wrong. Fix this by saving the number of allocated pages before entering the work loop in the interrupt handler. When the interrupt handler processes the samples, it may detect the buffer full condition and stop sampling, reducing the buffer size to zero. To fix this, move define_machine after machine_device_initcall so that the declaration occurs before the definition, which matches how machine_device_initcall and define_machine work throughout arch/powerpc. TESTNAME=h_cede_tm TIMEOUT=90s ACCEL= ./powerpc/run powerpc/tm.elf -smp 2,threads=2 -machine cap-htm=on -append "h_cede_tm" FAIL h_cede_tm (2 tests, 1 unexpected failures) While the test relates to transactional memory instructions, the actual failure is due to the return code of the H_CEDE hypercall, which is reported as 224 instead of 0. This happens even when no TM instructions are issued. 224 is the value placed in r3 to execute a hypercall for H_CEDE, and r3 is where the caller expects the return code to be placed upon return. In the case of guest running under a nested hypervisor, issuing H_CEDE causes a return from H_ENTER_NESTED. In this case H_CEDE is specially-handled immediately rather than later in kvmppc_pseries_do_hcall() as with most other hcalls, but we forget to set the return code for the caller, hence why kvm-unit-test sees the 224 return code and reports an error. Guest kernels generally don't check the return value of H_CEDE, so that likely explains why this hasn't caused issues outside of kvm-unit-tests so far. Fix this by setting r3 to 0 after we finish processing the H_CEDE. This in turn causes the gigabit PHY to be momentarily reset and reprogrammed. However, we attempt to reprogram the PHY immediately after deasserting reset, and the PHY ignores the writes. This results in the PHY operating in the wrong mode, and the copper link states down. Set a reset deassert delay of 10ms for the gigabit PHY to avoid this. 2020-04-23arm64: tegra: Fix Tegra194 PCIe compatible stringJon Hunter
[ Upstream commit f9f711efd441ad0d22874be49986d92121862335 ] If the kernel configuration option CONFIG_PCIE_DW_PLAT_HOST is enabled then this can cause the kernel to incorrectly probe the generic designware PCIe platform driver instead of the Tegra194 designware PCIe driver. This causes a boot failure on Tegra194 because the necessary configuration to access the hardware is not performed. The order in which the compatible strings are populated in Device-Tree is not relevant in this case, because the kernel will attempt to probe the device as soon as a driver is loaded and if the generic designware PCIe driver is loaded first, then this driver will be probed first. Therefore, to fix this problem, remove the "snps,dw-pcie" string from the compatible string as we never want this driver to be probe on Tegra194. So replace "interrupts-extended" by "interrupts" to use the default parent which is GPC. commit 4178417cc5359c329790a4a8f4a6604612338cca upstream. This patch fixes an incorrect check in how immediate memory offsets are computed for BPF_DW on arm. For BPF_LDX/ST/STX + BPF_DW, the 32-bit arm JIT breaks down an 8-byte access into two separate 4-byte accesses using off+0 and off+4. If off fits in imm12, the JIT emits a ldr/str instruction with the immediate and avoids the use of a temporary register. While the current check off <= 0xfff ensures that the first immediate off+0 doesn't overflow imm12, it's not sufficient for the second immediate off+4, which may cause the second access of BPF_DW to read/write the wrong address. This patch fixes the problem by changing the check to off <= 0xfff - 4 for BPF_DW, ensuring off+4 will never overflow. A side effect of simplifying the check is that it now allows using negative immediate offsets in ldr/str. This means that small negative offsets can also avoid the use of a temporary register. This patch introduces no new failures in test_verifier or test_bpf.c. 2020-04-23arm, bpf: Fix bugs with ALU64 {RSH, ARSH} BPF_K shift by 0Luke Nelson
commit bb9562cf5c67813034c96afb50bd21130a504441 upstream. The current arm BPF JIT does not correctly compile RSH or ARSH when the immediate shift amount is 0. This causes the "rsh64 by 0 imm" and "arsh64 by 0 imm" BPF selftests to hang the kernel by reaching an instruction the verifier determines to be unreachable. The root cause is in how immediate right shifts are encoded on arm. For LSR and ASR (logical and arithmetic right shift), a bit-pattern of 00000 in the immediate encodes a shift amount of 32. When the BPF immediate is 0, the generated code shifts by 32 instead of the expected behavior (a no-op). This patch fixes the bugs by adding an additional check if the BPF immediate is 0. After the change, the above mentioned BPF selftests pass. 2020-04-21x86/resctrl: Fix invalid attempt at removing the default resource groupReinette Chatre
commit b0151da52a6d4f3951ea24c083e7a95977621436 upstream. The default resource group ("rdtgroup_default") is associated with the root of the resctrl filesystem and should never be removed. New resource groups can be created as subdirectories of the resctrl filesystem and they can be removed from user space. There exists a safeguard in the directory removal code (rdtgroup_rmdir()) that ensures that only subdirectories can be removed by testing that the directory to be removed has to be a child of the root directory. A possible deadlock was recently fixed with 334b0f4e9b1b ("x86/resctrl: Fix a deadlock due to inaccurate reference"). This fix involved associating the private data of the "mon_groups" and "mon_data" directories to the resource group to which they belong instead of NULL as before. 2020-04-17arm64: Always force a branch protection mode when the compiler has oneMark Brown

Compilers with branch protection support can be configured to enable it by default, it is likely that distributions will do this as part of deploying branch protection system wide. As well as the slight overhead from having some extra NOPs for unused branch protection features this can cause more serious problems when the kernel is providing pointer authentication to userspace but not built for pointer authentication itself. In that case our switching of keys for userspace can affect the kernel unexpectedly, causing pointer authentication instructions in the kernel to corrupt addresses. To ensure that we get consistent and reliable behaviour always explicitly initialise the branch protection mode, ensuring that the kernel is built the same way regardless of the compiler defaults. [This is a reworked version of b8fdef311a0bd9223f1075 ("arm64: Always force a branch protection mode when the compiler has one") for backport. 2020-04-17powerpc: Make setjmp/longjmp signature standardClement Courbet
commit c17eb4dca5a353a9dbbb8ad6934fe57af7165e91 upstream. Declaring setjmp()/longjmp() as taking longs makes the signature non-standard, and makes clang complain. In the past, this has been worked around by adding -ffreestanding to the compile flags. The implementation looks like it only ever propagates the value (in longjmp) or sets it to 1 (in setjmp), and we only call longjmp with integer parameters. This allows removing -ffreestanding from the compilation flags. commit 7053f80d96967d8e72e9f2a724bbfc3906ce2b07 upstream. The previous commit reduced the amount of code that is run before we setup a paca. However there are still a few remaining functions that run with no paca, or worse, with an arbitrary value in r13 that will be used as a paca pointer. In particular the stack protector canary is stored in the paca, so if stack protector is activated for any of these functions we will read the stack canary from wherever r13 points. If r13 happens to point outside of memory we will get a machine check / checkstop. 2020-04-17powerpc/64: Setup a paca before parsing device tree etc.Daniel Axtens
commit d4a8e98621543d5798421eed177978bf2b3cdd11 upstream. Currently we set up the paca after parsing the device tree for CPU features. Prior to that, r13 contains random data, which means there is random data in r13 while we're running the generic dt parsing code. This random data varies depending on whether we boot through a vmlinux or a zImage: for the vmlinux case it's usually around zero, but for zImages we see random values like 912a72603d420015. This is poor practice, and can also lead to difficult-to-debug crashes. For example, when kcov is enabled, the kcov instrumentation attempts to read preempt_count out of the current task, which goes via the paca. This then crashes in the zImage case. Similarly stack protector can cause crashes if r13 is bogus, by reading from the stack canary in the paca. To resolve this: - move the paca setup to before the CPU feature parsing. - because we no longer have access to CPU feature flags in paca setup, change the HV feature test in the paca setup path to consider the actual value of the MSR rather than the CPU feature. Translations get switched on once we leave early_setup, so I think we'd already catch any other cases where the paca or task aren't set up. Boot tested on a P9 guest and host. 2020-04-17powerpc/xive: Use XIVE_BAD_IRQ instead of zero to catch non configured IPIsCédric Le Goater
commit b1a504a6500df50e83b701b7946b34fce27ad8a3 upstream. When a CPU is brought up, an IPI number is allocated and recorded under the XIVE CPU structure. Invalid IPI numbers are tracked with interrupt number 0x0. On the PowerNV platform, the interrupt number space starts at 0x10 and this works fine. However, on the sPAPR platform, it is possible to allocate the interrupt number 0x0 and this raises an issue when CPU 0 is unplugged. The XIVE spapr driver tracks allocated interrupt numbers in a bitmask and it is not correctly updated when interrupt number 0x0 is freed. It stays allocated and it is then impossible to reallocate. Fix by using the XIVE_BAD_IRQ value instead of zero on both platforms. The difference is WRT how we handle hash fault on these address. THP address enables MPSS in segments. We want to manage devmap hugepage entries similar to THP pt entries. Hence use H_PAGE_THP_HUGE for devmap huge PTE entries. With current code while handling hash PTE fault, we do set is_thp = true when finding devmap PTE huge PTE entries.
