2024-03-26ARM: dts: imx6dl-yapp4: Move the internal switch PHYs under the switch nodeMichal Vokáč
[ Upstream commit 79978bff2e4b8e05ebdf5fc3ee6b794002393484 ] We identified that the PHYs actually do not work since commit 7da7b84fee58 ("ARM: dts: imx6dl-yapp4: Move phy reset into switch node") as a coincidence of several circumstances. The reset signal is kept asserted by a pull-down resistor on the board unless it is deasserted by GPIO from the SoC. This is to keep the switch dead until it is configured properly by the kernel and user space. Prior to the referenced commit the switch was reset by the FEC driver and the reset GPIO was actively deasserted. The mdio-bus was scanned and the attached switch and its PHYs were found and configured. With the referenced commit the switch is reset by the qca8k driver. Because of another bug in the qca8k driver, functionality of the reset pin depends on its pre-kernel configuration. See commit c44fc98f0a8f ("net: dsa: qca8k: fix illegal usage of GPIO") The problem did not appear until we removed support for the switch and configuration of its reset pin from the bootloader. To fix that, properly describe the internal mdio-bus configuration of the qca8334 switch. The PHYs are internal to the switch and sit on its internal mdio-bus. 2024-03-26ARM: dts: imx6dl-yapp4: Fix typo in the QCA switch register addressMichal Vokáč
[ Upstream commit 023bd910d3ab735459f84b22bb99fb9e00bd9d76 ] This change does not have any functional effect. The switch works just fine without this patch as it has full access to all the addresses on the bus. This is simply a clean-up to set the node name address and reg address to the same value. 2024-03-26ARM: dts: arm: realview: Fix development chip ROM compatible valueGeert Uytterhoeven
[ Upstream commit 3baa4c5143d65ebab2de0d99a395e5f4f1f46608 ] When the development chip ROM was added, the "direct-mapped" compatible value was already obsolete. In addition, the device node lacked the accompanying "probe-type" property, causing the old physmap_of_core driver to fall back to trying all available probe types. Unfortunately this fallback was lost when the DT and pdata cases were merged. Fix this by using the modern "mtd-rom" compatible value instead. [ Upstream commit 19e367147ea8864dff1fb153cfab6d8e8da10324 ] The omap4430 HS HIGH performance devces support 1.2GHz opp, lower speed variants do not. However for mapphone devices Motorola seems to have decided that this does not really matter for the SoC variants they have tested to use, and decided to clock all devices, including the ones with STANDARD performance chips at 1.2GHz upon release of the 3.0.8 vendor kernel shiped with Android 4.0. Therefore it seems safe to do the same, but let's only do it for Motorola devices as the others have not been tested. Note that we prevent overheating with the passive cooling device cpu_alert0 configured in the dts file that starts lowering the speed as needed. This also removes the "failed to find current OPP for freq 1200000000" warning. 2023-10-10ARM: dts: motorola-mapphone: Configure lower temperature passive coolingTony Lindgren
[ Upstream commit 5c3db2d4d4ed747e714387362afe007e6ae5e2d3 ] The current cooling device temperature is too high at 100C as we have a battery on the device right next to the SoC as pointed out by Carl Philipp Klemm <philipp@uvos.xyz>. Let's configure the max temperature to 80C. As we only have a tshut interrupt and no talert interrupt on 4430, we have a passive cooling device configured for 4430. However, we want the poll interval to be 10 seconds instead of 1 second for power management. The value of 10 seconds seems like plenty of time to notice the temperature increase above the 75C temperatures. Having the bandgap temperature change seems to take several tens of seconds because of heat dissipation above 75C range as monitored with a full CPU load. [ Upstream commit 6469b2feade8fd82d224dd3734e146536f3e9f0e ] Fix "thermal_sys: cpu_thermal: Failed to read thermal-sensors cells: -2" error on boot for omap3/4. This is caused by wrong addressing in the dts for bandgap sensor for single sensor instances. Note that omap4-cpu-thermal.dtsi is shared across omap4/5 and dra7, so we can't just change the addressing in omap4-cpu-thermal.dtsi. 2023-09-19ARM: dts: BCM53573: Fix Ethernet info for Luxul devicesRafał Miłecki
[ Upstream commit 44ad8207806973f4e4f7d870fff36cc01f494250 ] Both Luxul's XAP devices (XAP-810 and XAP-1440) are access points that use a non-default design. They don't include switch but have a single Ethernet port and BCM54210E PHY connected to the Ethernet controller's MDIO bus. Support for those devices regressed due to two changes: 1. Describing MDIO bus with switch After commit 9fb90ae6cae7 ("ARM: dts: BCM53573: Describe on-SoC BCM53125 rev 4 switch") Linux stopped probing for MDIO devices. 2. Dropping hardcoded BCM54210E delays In commit fea7fda7f50a ("net: phy: broadcom: Fix RGMII delays configuration for BCM54210E") support for other PHY modes was added but that requires a proper "phy-mode" value in DT. Both above changes are correct (they don't need to be reverted or anything) but they need this fix for DT data to be correct and for Linux to work properly.
