2006-07-21[SPARC] sbus: Make sure sbus nodes are named uniquely.David S. Miller
Just name them "sbus%d" otherwise on sun4d we try to register multiple entries named "sbi@0,0" which does not work. Based upon a report from Raymond Burns. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

2006-06-25[PATCH] mm: remove VM_LOCKED before remap_pfn_range and drop VM_SHMChristoph Lameter
Remove VM_LOCKED before remap_pfn range from device drivers and get rid of VM_SHM. remap_pfn_range() already sets VM_IO. There is no need to set VM_SHM since it does nothing. VM_LOCKED is of no use since the remap_pfn_range does not place pages on the LRU. The pages are therefore never subject to swap anyways. Remove all the vm_flags settings before calling remap_pfn_range. After removing all the vm_flag settings no use of VM_SHM is left. Drop it. 2006-06-23[SPARC64]: Convert sparc64 PCI layer to in-kernel device tree.David S. Miller
One thing this change pointed out was that we really should pull the "get 'local-mac-address' property" logic into a helper function all the network drivers can call. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2006-06-23[SBUS]: Start cleaning up generic sbus support layer.David S. Miller
In particular, move the IRQ probing out to sparc32/sparc64 arch specific code where it belongs. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2006-06-20[SPARC]: Kill __irq_itoa().David S. Miller
This ugly hack was long overdue to die. It was a way to print out Sparc interrupts in a more freindly format, since IRQ numbers were arbitrary opaque 32-bit integers which vectored into PIL levels. These 32-bit integers were not necessarily in the 0-->NR_IRQS range, but the PILs they vectored to were. The idea now is that we will increase NR_IRQS a little bit and use a virtual<-->real IRQ number mapping scheme similar to PowerPC. That makes this IRQ printing hack irrelevant, and furthermore only a handful of drivers actually used __irq_itoa() making it even less useful. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

We had similar problems with other ioctls where userspace did things like that. What we did there was to put the compat handler to generic code. The patch below does that, adding a big comment about what's going on and removing the COMPAT_IOCTL entires for these on powerpc that not only weren't ever useful but are duplicated now aswell. 2005-11-07[SPARC] display7seg: implement ->unlocked_ioctl and ->compat_ioctlChristoph Hellwig
all ioctls are 32bit compat clean, so the driver can use ->compat_ioctl and ->unlocked_ioctl easily. Signed-off-by: Christoph Hellwig <hch@lst.de> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2005-11-07[SPARC] openprom: implement ->compat_ioctlChristoph Hellwig
implement a compat_ioctl handle in the driver instead of having table entries in sparc64 ioctl32.c (I plan to get rid of the arch ioctl32.c file eventually) Signed-off-by: Christoph Hellwig <hch@lst.de> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2005-11-07[SPARC] envctrl: implement ->unlocked_ioctl and ->compat_ioctlChristoph Hellwig
all the ioctls in the driver are 32bit compat clean and don't need BKL, so we can switch it to ->unlocked_ioctl and ->compat_ioctl trivially. Signed-off-by: Christoph Hellwig <hch@lst.de> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

2005-09-10[PATCH] envctrl fixesviro@ZenIV.linux.org.uk

2005-09-09[PATCH] timer initialization cleanup: DEFINE_TIMERIngo Molnar

2005-08-09[SPARC]: remove ifdef CONFIG_PCI from envctrl.cChristoph Hellwig

2005-08-09[SPARC]: Use kthread infrastructure in envctrlChristoph Hellwig
envctrl currently uses very odd ways to stop a thread, using various things that should be exposed to drivers at all. This patch (which is untested as I don't have sparc hardware) switches it to use the proper kthread infrastructure. Signed-off-by: Christoph Hellwig <hch@lst.de> Signed-off-by: David S. 2005-07-24[SPARC]: Fix __KERNEL_SYSCALLS__ defining in envctrl.c and bbc_envctrl.cDavid S. Miller
It needs to happen before any header includes because nowadays some things implicitly include asm/unistd.h which ends up being before the __KERNEL_SYSCALLS__ define gets done. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2005-07-24[SPARC]: sbus/vfc_i2c: remove sleep_on() usageNishanth Aravamudan
Use wait-queue directly instead of the deprecated sleep_on() function. This required adding a local wait-queue. Also use new (added in separate patch to K-J) usecs to jiffies function to convert value. 2005-07-24[SPARC]: sbus/envctrl: replace schedule_timeout() with msleep_interruptible()Nishanth Aravamudan
Use msleep_interruptible() instead of schedule_timeout() to guarantee the task delays as expected. Change the units of poll_interval to msecs as it is only used in this delay. 2005-07-04[SPARC]: bpp: remove sleep_on usageChristoph Hellwig
Use schedule_timeout() instead of sleep_on + timer. Totally untested due to lack of hardware, but the changes are rather trivial. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
