Eric noticed problems with vhost-scsi and virtio-ccw: vhost-scsi
complained about overwriting values in the config space, which
was triggered by a broken implementation of virtio-ccw's config
get/set routines. It was probably sheer luck that we did not hit
this before.
When writing a value to the config space, the WRITE_CONF ccw will
always write from the beginning of the config space up to and
including the value to be set. If the config space up to the value
has not yet been retrieved from the device, however, we'll end up
overwriting values. Keep track of the known config space and update
if needed to avoid this.
Moreover, READ_CONF will only read the number of bytes it has been
instructed to retrieve, so we must not copy more than that to the
buffer, or we might overwrite trailing values.

The ap poll timer restart condition was wrong. Hence the poll timer
was not restarted reliable when setting a new time interval via the
poll_timeout sysfs attribute.
Added missing timer locking.

The DASD device driver prevents I/O from being started on stopped
devices. This also prevented channel paths to be verified and so
the device was unable to be resumed.
Fix by allowing path verification requests on stopped devices.

The DASD device driver only has a limited amount of memory to build
I/O requests.
This memory was used by blocklayer requests leading to an inability
to build needed internal requests to resume the device.
Fix by preventing the DASD driver to fetch requests for a stopped
device.

Fix ref counting for DASD devices leading to an inability to set a
DASD device offline.
Before a worker is scheduled the DASD device driver takes a reference
to the device. If the worker was already scheduled this reference was
never freed.
Fix by giving the reference to the DASD device free when
schedule_work() returns false.

Commit 27356f54c8c3 ("mm/hotplug: verify hotplug memory range")
introduced a check that makes add_memory() only accept section size
aligned memory.
Therefore on z/VM systems, where standby memory is not aligned, no
standby memory is registered at all.
Example:

For this setup the following error message is printed:
Section-unaligned hotplug range: start 0xdb000000, size 0x92000000
So fix this and register aligned memory in "sclp_cmd.c". This means
that for the corner cases where the standby memory is not aligned we
loose some memory.
In order to inform the user about the potential loss of standby memory,
we add a new message for each added standby block and print how
much of the standby memory is usable, for example:
sclp_cmd.4336b4: Standby memory at 0x50000000 (256M of 256M usable)
sclp_cmd.4336b4: Standby memory at 0xb0000000 (256M of 256M usable)
sclp_cmd.4336b4: Standby memory at 0xdb000000 (2048M of 2336M usable)
We also ensure that a potential memory block that contains both "assigned"
and "standby" memory cannot be setup offline.

Allocating a large number of elements in atomic context could quickly
deplete memory reserves, so just disallow atomic resizing entirely.
Nothing currently uses mempool_resize() with anything other than
GFP_KERNEL, so convert existing callers to drop the gfp_mask.

Remove the 31 bit support in order to reduce maintenance cost and
effectively remove dead code. Since a couple of years there is no
distribution left that comes with a 31 bit kernel.
The 31 bit kernel also has been broken since more than a year before
anybody noticed. In addition I added a removal warning to the kernel
shown at ipl for 5 minutes: a960062e5826 ("s390: add 31 bit warning
message") which let everybody know about the plan to remove 31 bit
code. We didn't get any response.
Given that the last 31 bit only machine was introduced in 1999 let's
remove the code.
Anybody with 31 bit user space code can still use the compat mode.

We increase the msb_count after we're finished building the request.
That way we can always access the current request via
scmrq->request[msb_count] . But once the request is started we need
to make sure that the array index stays below msb_count.

Pull KVM update from Paolo Bonzini:
"Fairly small update, but there are some interesting new features.
Common:
Optional support for adding a small amount of polling on each HLT
instruction executed in the guest (or equivalent for other
architectures). This can improve latency up to 50% on some
scenarios (e.g. O_DSYNC writes or TCP_RR netperf tests). This
also has to be enabled manually for now, but the plan is to
auto-tune this in the future.
ARM/ARM64:
The highlights are support for GICv3 emulation and dirty page
tracking
s390:
Several optimizations and bugfixes. Also a first: a feature
exposed by KVM (UUID and long guest name in /proc/sysinfo) before
it is available in IBM's hypervisor! :)
MIPS:
Bugfixes.
x86:
Support for PML (page modification logging, a new feature in
Broadwell Xeons that speeds up dirty page tracking), nested
virtualization improvements (nested APICv---a nice optimization),
usual round of emulation fixes.
There is also a new option to reduce latency of the TSC deadline
timer in the guest; this needs to be tuned manually.
Some commits are common between this pull and Catalin's; I see you
have already included his tree.
Powerpc:
Nothing yet.
The KVM/PPC changes will come in through the PPC maintainers,
because I haven't received them yet and I might end up being
offline for some part of next week"

Older machines with more then 16 domains need a special check before
PQAP instructions can be processed. With commit 5bc334bff9a6e189 this
check was reverted by accident. This patch re-establishes the additional
code needed for checking the extended domains for older machines.

The dasd driver has a lot of duplicated code to handle
dasd_global_profile. With this patch we use the same code for the
global and the per device profiling data. Note that dasd_stats_write
had to change slightly to maintain some odd differences between
A) per device and global profile and B) proc and sysfs interface
usage.

Access to DASDs global statistics is done without locking which
can lead to inconsistent data. Add locking to fix this. Also move
the relevant structs in a global dasd_profile struct.

Do not wait for channel command buffers in IPA commands.

The device driver has plenty of command buffers available
per channel for channel command communication.
In the extremely rare case when there is no command buffer
available, return a NULL pointer and issue a warning
in the kernel log. The caller handles the case when
a NULL pointer is encountered and returns an error.
In the case the wait for command buffer is possible
(because no lock is held as in the OSN case), still wait
until a channel command buffer is available.

In the functions that are registering and unregistering MAC
addresses in the qeth-handled hardware, remove callback functions
that are unnesessary, as only the return code is analyzed.
Translate hardware response codes to semi-standard 'errno'-like
codes for readability.
Add kernel-doc description to the internal API function
qeth_send_control_data().

Upcoming versions of secure key management facilities (CCA and
EP11) require information about the maximum number of supported
ap domains in order to service TKE requests properly. With IBM
z13 the number of available domains (so far 16) has increased up
to 85. This number varies depending on machine types and models.
Therefore the new sysfs attribute 'ap_max_domain_id' provides
this limit of supported ap domains. Upcoming releases for CCA
and EP11 will use this new information. Without this problem fix
it is not possible to retrieve reliable information about the
maximum number of supported ap domains. Thus, customers are not
able to perform key management for CCA and EP11 coprocessor
adapters.

The unit check handler for 3480 / 3490 tapes used to print a different
warning message for erpa code 0x57 dependent on the device type.
The warning messages have been remove in a cleanup, the if statement
is a left over. Remove it.

The content of a DCSS of type SN or EN cannot be saved. Issue a warning when
trying to save such a DCSS. Depending on the setup, this may be a user error
or intended behaviour e.g. with a multi-DCSS device.

The multi-threading facility is introduced with the z13 processor family.
This patch adds code to detect the multi-threading facility. With the
facility enabled each core will surface multiple hardware threads to the
system. Each hardware threads looks like a normal CPU to the operating
system with all its registers and properties.
The SCLP interface reports the SMT topology indirectly via the maximum
thread id. Each reported CPU in the result of a read-scp-information
is a core representing a number of hardware threads.
To reflect the reduced CPU capacity if two hardware threads run on a
single core the MT utilization counter set is used to normalize the
raw cputime obtained by the CPU timer deltas. This scaled cputime is
reported via the taskstats interface. The normal /proc/stat numbers
are based on the raw cputime and are not affected by the normalization.

The function debug_unregister() tests whether its argument is
NULL and then returns immediately. Thus the test around the call
is not needed.
This issue was detected by using the Coccinelle software.

This patch is concerned with migrating the time variables for the s390
network drivers. The changes handle the y2038 problem where timespec will
overflow in the year 2038. timespec was replaced by unsigned long and
all time variables get their values from the jiffies global variable.
This was done for the sake of speed and efficiency.

In order to support accesses to larger chunks of memory, pass in a
'size' parameter (counted in bytes), and return the amount available at
that address.
Add a new helper function, bdev_direct_access(), to handle common
functionality including partition handling, checking the length requested
is positive, checking for the sector being page-aligned, and checking
the length of the request does not pass the end of the partition.

Kernel oops caused by invalid parameter at TAPQ instruction:
On older systems where the QCI instruction is not available
all possible domains are probed via TAPQ instruction. The
range for the probe has been extended with the > 16 domain
support now leading to a possible specification exception
when this instruction is called for probing higher values
within the new range. This may happen during insmod and/or
ap bus reset only on machines without a QCI instruction (z10,
z196, z114), zEC12 and newer systems are not affected.
The fix modifies the domain checking function to limit the
allowed range if no QCI info is available.
