The below commit introduced a WARN when phy state is not in the states:
PHY_HALTED, PHY_READY and PHY_UP.
commit 744d23c71af3 ("net: phy: Warn about incorrect mdio_bus_phy_resume() state")
When cpsw resumes, there have port in PHY_NOLINK state, so the below
warning comes out. Set mac_managed_pm be true to tell mdio that the phy
resume/suspend is managed by the mac, to fix the following warning:

The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes
many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by
returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart
from emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks.
To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return
void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to
.remove_new(), which already returns void. Eventually after all drivers
are converted, .remove_new() will be renamed to .remove().
Replace the error path returning a non-zero value by an error message
and a comment that there is more to do. With that this patch results in
no change of behaviour in this driver apart from improving the error
message.

TI CPSW uses of_platform_* functions which are declared in of_platform.h.
of_platform.h gets implicitly included by of_device.h, but that is going
to be removed soon. Nothing else depends on of_device.h so it can be
dropped. of_platform.h also implicitly includes platform_device.h, so
add an explicit include for it, too.

A summary of the flags being set for various drivers is given below.
Note that XDP_F_REDIRECT_TARGET and XDP_F_FRAG_TARGET are features
that can be turned off and on at runtime. This means that these flags
may be set and unset under RTNL lock protection by the driver. Hence,
READ_ONCE must be used by code loading the flag value.
Also, these flags are not used for synchronization against the availability
of XDP resources on a device. It is merely a hint, and hence the read
may race with the actual teardown of XDP resources on the device. This
may change in the future, e.g. operations taking a reference on the XDP
resources of the driver, and in turn inhibiting turning off this flag.
However, for now, it can only be used as a hint to check whether device
supports becoming a redirection target.

Since commit 1771afd47430 ("net: cpsw: avoid alignment faults by taking
NET_IP_ALIGN into account") the TI CPSW driver was switched to use correct
define CPSW_HEADROOM_NA to avoid alignment faults, but there are two places
left where CPSW_HEADROOM is still used (without causing issues).
Hence, completely drop CPSW_HEADROOM define and use CPSW_HEADROOM_NA
everywhere to avoid further mistakes in code.

Both versions of the CPSW driver declare a CPSW_HEADROOM_NA macro that
takes NET_IP_ALIGN into account, but fail to use it appropriately when
storing incoming packets in memory. This results in the IPv4 source and
destination addresses to appear misaligned in memory, which causes
aligment faults that need to be fixed up in software.
So let's switch from CPSW_HEADROOM to CPSW_HEADROOM_NA where needed.
This gets rid of any alignment faults on the RX path on a Beaglebone
White.

Most users of ndo_do_ioctl are ethernet drivers that implement
the MII commands SIOCGMIIPHY/SIOCGMIIREG/SIOCSMIIREG, or hardware
timestamping with SIOCSHWTSTAMP/SIOCGHWTSTAMP.
Separate these from the few drivers that use ndo_do_ioctl to
implement SIOCBOND, SIOCBR and SIOCWANDEV commands.
This is a purely cosmetic change intended to help readers find
their way through the implementation.

of_get_mac_address() returns a "const void*" pointer to a MAC address.
Lately, support to fetch the MAC address by an NVMEM provider was added.
But this will only work with platform devices. It will not work with
PCI devices (e.g. of an integrated root complex) and esp. not with DSA
ports.
There is an of_* variant of the nvmem binding which works without
devices. The returned data of a nvmem_cell_read() has to be freed after
use. On the other hand the return of_get_mac_address() points to some
static data without a lifetime. The trick for now, was to allocate a
device resource managed buffer which is then returned. This will only
work if we have an actual device.
Change it, so that the caller of of_get_mac_address() has to supply a
buffer where the MAC address is written to. Unfortunately, this will
touch all drivers which use the of_get_mac_address().
Usually the code looks like:
const char *addr;
addr = of_get_mac_address(np);
if (!IS_ERR(addr))
ether_addr_copy(ndev->dev_addr, addr);
This can then be simply rewritten as:
of_get_mac_address(np, ndev->dev_addr);
Sometimes is_valid_ether_addr() is used to test the MAC address.
of_get_mac_address() already makes sure, it just returns a valid MAC
address. Thus we can just test its return code. But we have to be
careful if there are still other sources for the MAC address before the
of_get_mac_address(). In this case we have to keep the
is_valid_ether_addr() call.
The following coccinelle patch was used to convert common cases to the
new style. Afterwards, I've manually gone over the drivers and fixed the
return code variable: either used a new one or if one was already
available use that. Mansour Moufid, thanks for that coccinelle patch!

We want to change the current ndo_xdp_xmit drop semantics because it will
allow us to implement better queue overflow handling. This is working
towards the larger goal of a XDP TX queue-hook. Move XDP_REDIRECT error
path handling from each XDP ethernet driver to devmap code. According to
the new APIs, the driver running the ndo_xdp_xmit pointer, will break tx
loop whenever the hw reports a tx error and it will just return to devmap
caller the number of successfully transmitted frames. It will be devmap
responsibility to free dropped frames.

To flush the vid + mc entries from ALE, which is required when a VLAN
interface is removed, driver needs to call cpsw_ale_flush_multicast()
with ALE_PORT_HOST for port mask as these entries are added only for
host port. Without this, these entries remain in the ALE table even
after removing the VLAN interface. cpsw_ale_flush_multicast() calls
cpsw_ale_flush_mcast which expects a port mask to do the job.

A following patches introduce new CPSW switchdev driver which uses common
code with legacy CPSW driver. This will introduce build dependency between
CPSW switchdev and CPSW legacy drivers related to for_each_slave() and
cpsw_slave_index() - they can be compiled both, but only one of them will
be not functional depending in Kconfig settings due to duffrences in Slave
Ports indexes calculation.
To fix this make for_each_slave() local (it's used now only by legacy CPSW
driver) and convert cpsw_slave_index() to be a function pointer which is
assigned in probe. Driver to probe is defined by DT.

Before this change of_get_phy_mode() returned an enum,
phy_interface_t. On error, -ENODEV etc, is returned. If the result of
the function is stored in a variable of type phy_interface_t, and the
compiler has decided to represent this as an unsigned int, comparision
with -ENODEV etc, is a signed vs unsigned comparision.
Fix this problem by changing the API. Make the function return an
error, or 0 on success, and pass a pointer, of type phy_interface_t,
where the phy mode should be stored.

In certain cases when the probe function fails the error path calls
cpsw_remove_dt() before calling platform_set_drvdata(). This is an
issue as cpsw_remove_dt() uses platform_get_drvdata() to retrieve the
cpsw_common data and leds to a NULL pointer exception. This patches
fixes it by calling platform_set_drvdata() earlier in the probe.

Each iteration of for_each_available_child_of_node puts the previous
node, but in the case of a return or break from the middle of the loop,
there is no put, thus causing a memory leak.
Hence, for function cpsw_probe_dt, create an extra label err_node_put
that puts the last used node and returns ret; modify the return
statements in the loop to save the return value in ret and goto this new
label.
For function cpsw_remove_dt, add an of_node_put before the break.

Add XDP support based on rx page_pool allocator, one frame per page.
Page pool allocator is used with assumption that only one rx_handler
is running simultaneously. DMA map/unmap is reused from page pool
despite there is no need to map whole page.
Due to specific of cpsw, the same TX/RX handler can be used by 2
network devices, so special fields in buffer are added to identify
an interface the frame is destined to. Thus XDP works for both
interfaces, that allows to test xdp redirect between two interfaces
easily. Also, each rx queue have own page pools, but common for both
netdevs.
XDP prog is common for all channels till appropriate changes are added
in XDP infrastructure. Also, once page_pool recycling becomes part of
skb netstack some simplifications can be added, like removing
page_pool_release_page() before skb receive.
In order to keep rx_dev while redirect, that can be somehow used in
future, do flush in rx_handler, that allows to keep rx dev the same
while redirect. It allows to conform with tracing rx_dev pointed
by Jesper.
Also, there is probability, that XDP generic code can be extended to
support multi ndev drivers like this one, using same rx queue for
several ndevs, based on switchdev for instance or else. In this case,
driver can be modified like exposed here:

While data pass suspend, reuse of rx descriptors can be disabled using
channel state & lock from cpdma layer. For this, submit to a channel
has to be disabled using state != "not active" under lock, what is done
with this patch. The same submit is used to fill rx channel while
ndo_open, when channel is idled, so add idled submit routine that
allows to prepare descs for the channel. All this simplifies code and
helps to avoid dormant mode usage and send packets only to active
channels, avoiding potential race in later on changes. Also add missed
sync barrier analogically like in other places after stopping tx
queues.
