Hence when printing an ino_t, it should always be cast to "unsigned long" first. Fix this by re-adding the recently removed casts. If an orphan has child orphans (xattrs), and due to a commit the parent orpahn cannot get free()'ed immediately, put also all child orphans on the erase list. Otherwise UBIFS will free() them only upon unmount and we waste memory. 2020-06-08ubifs: remove broken lazytime supportChristoph Hellwig
commit ecf84096a526f2632ee85c32a3d05de3fa60ce80 upstream. When "ubifs: introduce UBIFS_ATIME_SUPPORT to ubifs" introduced atime support to ubifs, it also added lazytime support. As far as I can tell the lazytime support is terminally broken, as it causes mark_inode_dirty_sync to be called from __writeback_single_inode, which will then trigger the locking assert in ubifs_dirty_inode. Just remove the broken lazytime support for now, it can be added back later, especially as some infrastructure changes should make that easier soon. 2020-06-08ubifs: fix wrong use of crypto_shash_descsize()Eric Biggers
commit 3c3c32f85b6cc05e5db78693457deff03ac0f434 upstream. crypto_shash_descsize() returns the size of the shash_desc context needed to compute the hash, not the size of the hash itself. crypto_shash_digestsize() would be correct, or alternatively using c->hash_len and c->hmac_desc_len which already store the correct values. But actually it's simpler to just use stack arrays, so do that instead. In order to ensure the serialization execution of bulk read, we can't remove the big lock 'ui->ui_mutex' in ubifs_bulk_read(). Instead, we allow ubifs_do_bulk_read() to lock page failed by replacing find_or_create_page(FGP_LOCK) with pagecache_get_page(FGP_LOCK | FGP_NOWAIT). 2020-05-04ubifs: Fix FS_IOC_SETFLAGS unexpectedly clearing encrypt flagEric Biggers

UBIFS's implementation of FS_IOC_SETFLAGS fails to preserve existing inode flags that aren't settable by FS_IOC_SETFLAGS, namely the encrypt flag. This causes the encrypt flag to be unexpectedly cleared. Fix it by preserving existing unsettable flags, like ext4 and f2fs do. The xent->inum is __le64, but the ubifs_iget() takes native cpu endian. In function layout_in_gaps, there is a do-while loop placing index nodes into the gaps created by obsolete index nodes in non-empty index LEBs until rest index nodes can totally be placed into pre-allocated empty LEBs. @c->gap_lebs points to a memory area(integer array) which records LEB numbers used by 'in-the-gaps' method. Whenever a fitable index LEB is found, corresponding lnum will be incrementally written into the memory area pointed by @c->gap_lebs. The size ((@c->lst.idx_lebs + 1) * sizeof(int)) of memory area is allocated before do-while loop and can not be changed in the loop. But @c->lst.idx_lebs could be increased by function ubifs_change_lp (called by layout_leb_in_gaps->ubifs_find_dirty_idx_leb->get_idx_gc_leb) during the loop. 2019-09-19ubifs: Correctly use tnc_next() in search_dh_cookie()Richard Weinberger
commit bacfa94b08027b9f66ede7044972e3b066766b3e upstream. Commit c877154d307f fixed an uninitialized variable and optimized the function to not call tnc_next() in the first iteration of the loop. While this seemed perfectly legit and wise, it turned out to be illegal. If the lookup function does not find an exact match it will rewind the cursor by 1. The rewinded cursor will not match the name hash we are looking for and this results in a spurious -ENOENT. So we need to move to the next entry in case of an non-exact match, but not if the match was exact. While we are here, update the documentation to avoid further confusion. ifdefs reduce readability and compile coverage. This removes the ifdefs around CONFIG_UBIFS_ATIME_SUPPORT by replacing them with IS_ENABLED() where applicable. The fs layer would fall back to generic_update_time() when .update_time doesn't exist. We do this fallback explicitly now. ifdefs reduce readablity and compile coverage. This removes the ifdefs around CONFIG_FS_ENCRYPTION by using IS_ENABLED and relying on static inline wrappers. A new static inline wrapper for setting sb->s_cop is introduced to allow filesystems to unconditionally compile in their s_cop operations. Since we have to write one deletion inode per xattr into the journal, limit the max number of xattrs. In theory UBIFS supported up to 65535 xattrs per inode. But this never worked correctly, expect no powercuts happened. Now we support only as many xattrs as we can store in 50% of a LEB. Even for tiny flashes this allows dozens of xattrs per inode, which is for an embedded filesystem still fine. In case someone has existing inodes with much more xattrs, it is still possible to delete them. UBIFS will fall back to an non-atomic deletion mode. If an inode hosts xattrs, create deletion entries for each inode. That way we can make sure that upon journal replay UBIFS can find find all xattr inodes. Otherwise it can happen that GC consumed already a LEB which contained parts of the TNC that pointed to the xattrs and we no longer find all xattr inodes, which will confuse the LPT and cause space allocation issues. Replace swap_dirty_idx function with built-in one, because swap_dirty_idx does only a simple byte to byte swap. Since Spectre mitigations have made indirect function calls more expensive, and the default simple byte copies swap is implemented without them, an "optimized" custom swap function is now a waste of time as well as code. Building this file with clang can result in large stack usage as seen from this warning: fs/ubifs/auth.c:78:5: error: stack frame size of 1152 bytes in function 'ubifs_prepare_auth_node' The problem is that inlining ubifs_hash_calc_hmac() leads to two SHASH_DESC_ON_STACK() blocks in the same function, and clang for some reason does not reuse the stack space as it should. Putting the first declaration into a separate basic block avoids this problem and reduces the stack allocation to 640 bytes. 2019-04-25crypto: shash - remove shash_desc::flagsEric Biggers
The flags field in 'struct shash_desc' never actually does anything. The only ostensibly supported flag is CRYPTO_TFM_REQ_MAY_SLEEP. However, no shash algorithm ever sleeps, making this flag a no-op. With this being the case, inevitably some users who can't sleep wrongly pass MAY_SLEEP. These would all need to be fixed if any shash algorithm actually started sleeping. For example, the shash_ahash_*() functions, which wrap a shash algorithm with the ahash API, pass through MAY_SLEEP from the ahash API to the shash API. However, the shash functions are called under kmap_atomic(), so actually they're assumed to never sleep. Even if it turns out that some users do need preemption points while hashing large buffers, we could easily provide a helper function crypto_shash_update_large() which divides the data into smaller chunks and calls crypto_shash_update() and cond_resched() for each chunk. It's not necessary to have a flag in 'struct shash_desc', nor is it necessary to make individual shash algorithms aware of this at all. Therefore, remove shash_desc::flags, and document that the crypto_shash_*() functions can be called from any context. 2019-04-17fscrypt: cache decrypted symlink target in ->i_linkEric Biggers
Path lookups that traverse encrypted symlink(s) are very slow because each encrypted symlink needs to be decrypted each time it's followed. This also involves dropping out of rcu-walk mode. Make encrypted symlinks faster by caching the decrypted symlink target in ->i_link. The first call to fscrypt_get_symlink() sets it. Then, the existing VFS path lookup code uses the non-NULL ->i_link to take the fast path where ->get_link() isn't called, and lookups in rcu-walk mode remain in rcu-walk mode. Also set ->i_link immediately when a new encrypted symlink is created. To safely free the symlink target after an RCU grace period has elapsed, introduce a new function fscrypt_free_inode(), and make the relevant filesystems call it just before actually freeing the inode. 2019-04-17fscrypt: fix race where ->lookup() marks plaintext dentry as ciphertextEric Biggers
->lookup() in an encrypted directory begins as follows: 1. fscrypt_prepare_lookup(): a. Try to load the directory's encryption key. b. If the key is unavailable, mark the dentry as a ciphertext name via d_flags. 2. fscrypt_setup_filename(): a. Try to load the directory's encryption key. b. If the key is available, encrypt the name (treated as a plaintext name) to get the on-disk name. Otherwise decode the name (treated as a ciphertext name) to get the on-disk name. But if the key is concurrently added, it may be found at (2a) but not at (1a). In this case, the dentry will be wrongly marked as a ciphertext name even though it was actually treated as plaintext. This will cause the dentry to be wrongly invalidated on the next lookup, potentially causing problems. For example, if the racy ->lookup() was part of sys_mount(), then the new mount will be detached when anything tries to access it. This is despite the mountpoint having a plaintext path, which should remain valid now that the key was added. Of course, this is only possible if there's a userspace race. Still, the additional kernel-side race is confusing and unexpected. Close the kernel-side race by changing fscrypt_prepare_lookup() to also set the on-disk filename (step 2b), consistent with the d_flags update. UBIFS's recovery code strictly assumes that a deleted inode will never come back, therefore it removes all data which belongs to that inode as soon it faces an inode with link count 0 in the replay list. Before O_TMPFILE this assumption was perfectly fine. With O_TMPFILE it can lead to data loss upon a power-cut. Consider a journal with entries like: 0: inode X (nlink = 0) /* O_TMPFILE was created */ 1: data for inode X /* Someone writes to the temp file */ 2: inode X (nlink = 0) /* inode was changed, xattr, chmod, … */ 3: inode X (nlink = 1) /* inode was re-linked via linkat() */ Upon replay of entry #2 UBIFS will drop all data that belongs to inode X, this will lead to an empty file after mounting. As solution for this problem, scan the replay list for a re-link entry before dropping data.
