Like with ath9k, ath5k queues also need to be ordered by priority.
queue_info->tqi_subtype already contains the correct index, so use it
instead of relying on the order of ath5k_hw_setup_tx_queue calls.

This patchs fixes a misplaced call to memset() that fills the request
buffer with 0. The problem was with sending PCAN_USBPRO_REQ_FCT
requests, the content set by the caller was thus lost.
With this patch, the memory area is zeroed only when requesting info
from the device.

The mvneta driver sets the amount of Tx coalesce packets to 16 by
default. Normally that does not cause any trouble since the driver
uses a much larger Tx ring size (532 packets). But some sockets
might run with very small buffers, much smaller than the equivalent
of 16 packets. This is what ping is doing for example, by setting
SNDBUF to 324 bytes rounded up to 2kB by the kernel.
The problem is that there is no documented method to force a specific
packet to emit an interrupt (eg: the last of the ring) nor is it
possible to make the NIC emit an interrupt after a given delay.
In this case, it causes trouble, because when ping sends packets over
its raw socket, the few first packets leave the system, and the first
15 packets will be emitted without an IRQ being generated, so without
the skbs being freed. And since the socket's buffer is small, there's
no way to reach that amount of packets, and the ping ends up with
"send: no buffer available" after sending 6 packets. Running with 3
instances of ping in parallel is enough to hide the problem, because
with 6 packets per instance, that's 18 packets total, which is enough
to grant a Tx interrupt before all are sent.
The original driver in the LSP kernel worked around this design flaw
by using a software timer to clean up the Tx descriptors. This timer
was slow and caused terrible network performance on some Tx-bound
workloads (such as routing) but was enough to make tools like ping
work correctly.
Instead here, we simply set the packet counts before interrupt to 1.
This ensures that each packet sent will produce an interrupt. NAPI
takes care of coalescing interrupts since the interrupt is disabled
once generated.
No measurable performance impact nor CPU usage were observed on small
nor large packets, including when saturating the link on Tx, and this
fixes tools like ping which rely on too small a send buffer. If one
wants to increase this value for certain workloads where it is safe
to do so, "ethtool -C $dev tx-frames" will override this default
setting.
This fix needs to be applied to stable kernels starting with 3.10.

Some VF drivers use the upper byte of "param1" (the qp count field)
in mlx4_qp_reserve_range() to pass flags which are used to optimize
the range allocation.
Under the current code, if any of these flags are set, the 32-bit
count field yields a count greater than 2^24, which is out of range,
and this VF fails.
As these flags represent a "best-effort" allocation hint anyway, they may
safely be ignored. Therefore, the PF driver may simply mask out the bits.

If TX channels are set to 4 and RX channels are set to less than 4,
using ethtool -L, the driver will try to initialize more RX channels
than it has allocated, causing an oops.
This fix only initializes the RX ring if it has been allocated.

Currently, when trying to reuse a socket, vxlan_sock_add will grab
vn->sock_lock, locate a reusable socket, inc refcount and release
vn->sock_lock.
But vxlan_sock_release() will first decrement refcount, and then grab
that lock. refcnt operations are atomic but as currently we have
deferred works which hold vs->refcnt each, this might happen, leading to
a use after free (specially after vxlan_igmp_leave):

These BUGs can be erroneously triggered by frags which refer to
tail pages within a compound page. The data in these pages may
overrun the hardware page while still being contained within the
compound page, but since compound_order() evaluates to 0 for tail
pages the assertion fails. The code already iterates through
subsequent pages correctly in this scenario, so the BUGs are
unnecessary and can be removed.

RT2800 and newer hardware require padding between header and payload if
header length is not multiple of 4.
For historical reasons we also align payload to to 4 bytes boundary, but
such alignment is not needed on modern H/W.

Panic happened because we eat 4 bytes of skb headroom on each
(re)transmission when sending frame without the payload and the header
length not being multiple of 4 (i.e. QoS header has 26 bytes). On such
case because paylad_aling=2 is bigger than header_align=0 we increase
header_align by 4 bytes. To prevent that we could change the check to:
if (payload_length && payload_align > header_align)
header_align += 4;
but not aligning payload at all is more effective and alignment is not
really needed by H/W (that has been tested on OpenWrt project for few
years now).

Based on the reference clock, which could be 25MHz or 40MHz,
AR_RTC_DERIVED_CLK is programmed differently for AR9340 and AR9550.
But, when a chip reset is done, processing the initvals
sets the register back to the default value.
Fix this by moving the code in ath9k_hw_init_pll() to
ar9003_hw_override_ini(). Also, do this override for AR9531.

pptp_getname() only partially initializes the stack variable sa,
particularly only fills the pptp part of the sa_addr union. The code
thereby discloses 16 bytes of kernel stack memory via getsockname().
Fix this by memset(0)'ing the union before.

Since commit 6fde8f037e60 ("bonding: fix locking in
bond_loadbalance_arp_mon()") we can have a stale bond carrier state and
stale curr_active_slave when using arp monitoring in loadbalance modes. The
reason is that in bond_loadbalance_arp_mon() we can't have
do_failover == true but slave_state_changed == false, whenever do_failover
is true then slave_state_changed is also true. Then the following piece
from bond_loadbalance_arp_mon():

Since some interfaces are up, then the status of the bond should also be
up, but it will never change unless something invokes bond_set_carrier()
(i.e. enslave, bond_select_active_slave etc). Now, if I force the
calling of bond_select_active_slave via for example changing
primary_reselect (it can change in any mode), then the MII status goes to
"up" because it calls bond_select_active_slave() which should've been done
from bond_loadbalance_arp_mon() itself.

In case of any failure ieee802154fake_probe() just calls unregister_netdev().
But it does not look safe to unregister netdevice before it was registered.
The patch implements straightforward resource deallocation in case of
failure in ieee802154fake_probe().

The LTR is the handshake between the device and the root
complex about the latency allowed when the bus exits power
save. This configuration was missing and this led to high
latency in the link power up. The end user could experience
high latency in the network because of this.

When VLAN is in use in macvtap_put_user, we end up setting
csum_start to the wrong place. The result is that the whoever
ends up doing the checksum setting will corrupt the packet instead
of writing the checksum to the expected location, usually this
means writing the checksum with an offset of -4.
This patch fixes this by adjusting csum_start when VLAN tags are
detected.

vio_dring_avail() will allow use of every dring entry, but when the last
entry is allocated then dr->prod == dr->cons which is indistinguishable from
the ring empty condition. This causes the next allocation to reuse an entry.
When this happens in sunvdc, the server side vds driver begins nack'ing the
messages and ends up resetting the ldc channel. This problem does not effect
sunvnet since it checks for < 2.
The fix here is to just never allocate the very last dring slot so that full
and empty are not the same condition. The request start path was changed to
check for the ring being full a bit earlier, and to stop the blk_queue if
there is no space left. The blk_queue will be restarted once the ring is
only half full again. The number of ring entries was increased to 512 which
matches the sunvnet and Solaris vdc drivers, and greatly reduces the
frequency of hitting the ring full condition and the associated blk_queue
stop/starting. The checks in sunvent were adjusted to account for
vio_dring_avail() returning 1 less.

With commit be9dad1f9f26604fb ("net: phy: suspend phydev when going
to HALTED"), the PHY device will be put in a low-power mode using
BMCR_PDOWN if the the interface is set down. The smsc911x driver does
a software_reset opening the device driver (ndo_open). In such case,
the PHY must be powered-up before access to any register and before
calling the software_reset function. Otherwise, as the PHY is powered
down the software reset fails and the interface can not be enabled
again.
This patch fixes this scenario that is easy to reproduce setting down
the network interface and setting up again.

Currently, we only match against local port number in order to reuse
socket. But if this new vxlan wants an IPv6 socket and a IPv4 one bound
to that port, vxlan will reuse an IPv4 socket as IPv6 and a panic will

we used to check for "nobody else could start doing anything with
that opened file" by checking that refcount was 2 or less - one
for descriptor table and one we'd acquired in fget() on the way to
wherever we are. That was race-prone (somebody else might have
had a reference to descriptor table and do fget() just as we'd
been checking) and it had become flat-out incorrect back when
we switched to fget_light() on those codepaths - unlike fget(),
it doesn't grab an extra reference unless the descriptor table
is shared. The same change allowed a race-free check, though -
we are safe exactly when refcount is less than 2.
It was a long time ago; pre-2.6.12 for ioctl() (the codepath leading
to ppp one) and 2.6.17 for sendmsg() (netlink one). OTOH,
netlink hadn't grown that check until 3.9 and ppp used to live
in drivers/net, not drivers/net/ppp until 3.1. The bug existed
well before that, though, and the same fix used to apply in old
location of file.

only if CONFIG_INET is enabled. However, they have really depended

UFO is now disabled on all drivers that work with virtio net headers,
but userland may try to send UFO/IPv6 packets anyway. Instead of
sending with ID=0, we should select identifiers on their behalf (as we
used to).

IPv6 does not allow fragmentation by routers, so there is no
fragmentation ID in the fixed header. UFO for IPv6 requires the ID to
be passed separately, but there is no provision for this in the virtio
net protocol.
Until recently our software implementation of UFO/IPv6 generated a new
ID, but this was a bug. Now we will use ID=0 for any UFO/IPv6 packet
passed through a tap, which is even worse.
Unfortunately there is no distinction between UFO/IPv4 and v6
features, so disable UFO on taps and virtio_net completely until we
have a proper solution.
We cannot depend on VM managers respecting the tap feature flags, so
keep accepting UFO packets but log a warning the first time we do
this.

The following patch fixes a bug which causes the ax88179_178a driver to be
incapable of being added to a bond.
When I brought up the issue with the bonding maintainers, they indicated
that the real problem was with the NIC driver which must return zero for
success (of setting the MAC address). I see that several other NIC drivers
follow that pattern by either simply always returing zero, or by passing
through a negative (error) result while rewriting any positive return code
to zero. With that same philisophy applied to the ax88179_178a driver, it
allows it to work correctly with the bonding driver.
I believe this is suitable for queuing in -stable, as it's a small, simple,
and obvious fix that corrects a defect with no other known workaround.
This patch is against vanilla 3.17(.0).

When team_notify_peers and team_mcast_rejoin are called, they both reset
their respective .count_pending atomic variable. Then when the actual
worker function is executed, the variable is atomically decremented.
This pattern introduces a potential race condition where the
.count_pending rolls over and the worker function keeps rescheduling
until .count_pending decrements to zero again:

Instead of assigning a new value to .count_pending, use atomic_add to
tack-on the additional desired worker function invocations.

In macvtap device delete and open calls can race and
this causes a list curruption of the vlan queue_list.
The race intself is triggered by the idr accessors
that located the vlan device. The device is stored
into and removed from the idr under both an rtnl and
a mutex. However, when attempting to locate the device
in idr, only a mutex is taken. As a result, once cpu
perfoming a delete may take an rtnl and wait for the mutex,
while another cput doing an open() will take the idr
mutex first to fetch the device pointer and later take
an rtnl to add a queue for the device which may have
just gotten deleted.
With this patch, we now hold the rtnl for the duration
of the macvtap_open() call thus making sure that
open will not race with delete.

When receiving a vlan-tagged frame that still contains
a vlan header, the length of the packet will be greater
then MTU+ETH_HLEN since it will account of the extra
vlan header. TG3 checks this for the case for 802.1Q,
but not for 802.1ad. As a result, full sized 802.1ad
frames get dropped by the card.
Add a check for 802.1ad protocol when receving full
sized frames.

TG3 appears to have an issue performing TSO and checksum offloading
correclty when the frame has been vlan encapsulated (non-accelrated).
In these cases, tcp checksum is not correctly updated.
This patch attempts to work around this issue. After the patch,
802.1ad vlans start working correctly over tg3 devices.

I cannot move a macvlan interface created on top of a bonding interface
to a different namespace:
% ip netns add dummy0
% ip link add link bond0 mac0 type macvlan
% ip link set mac0 netns dummy0
RTNETLINK answers: Invalid argument
%
The problem seems to be that commit f9399814927a ("bonding: Don't allow
bond devices to change network namespaces.") sets NETIF_F_NETNS_LOCAL
on bonding interfaces, and commit 797f87f83b60 ("macvlan: fix netdev
feature propagation from lower device") causes macvlan interfaces
to inherit its features from the lower device.
NETIF_F_NETNS_LOCAL should not be inherited from the lower device
by a macvlan.
Patch tested on 3.16.
