drm_gem_object_unreference_unlocked() The drm_gem_object_unreference_unlocked() function tests whether its argument is NULL and then returns immediately. Thus the test around the call is not needed. This issue was detected by using the Coccinelle software. 2016-06-07drm/core: Change declaration for gamma_set.Maarten Lankhorst
Change return value to int to propagate errors from gamma_set, and remove start parameter. Updates always use the full size, and some drivers even ignore the start parameter altogether. This is needed for atomic drivers, where an atomic commit can fail with -EINTR or -ENOMEM and should be restarted. This is already and issue for drm_atomic_helper_legacy_set_gamma, which this patch fixes up. Changes since v1: - Fix compiler warning. The problem was introduced by: "bf89209 drm/mga200g: Hold a proper reference for cursor_set" which calls drm_gem_object_lookup(dev, file_priv...). mgag200_driver_load's error path just calls the drm driver's driver_unload op. It isn't safe to call this because it doesn't handle things well if driver_load fails somewhere mid way. Replace the call to mgag200_driver_unload with a more finegrained error handling path. Looking up an obj, immediate dropping the acquired reference and then continuing to use it isn't how this is supposed to work. Fix this by holding a reference for the entire function. Nouveau is the only driver that uses two different bus-types with the same drm_driver. This is totally broken if both buses are available on the same machine (unlikely, but lets be safe). Therefore, we create two different drivers for each platform during module_init() and set the set_busid() callback respectively. 2014-08-06drm: Perform cmdline mode parsing during connector initialisationChris Wilson
i915.ko has a custom fbdev initialisation routine that aims to preserve the current mode set by the BIOS, unless overruled by the user. The user's wishes are determined by what, if any, mode is specified on the command line (via the video= parameter). However, that command line mode is first parsed by drm_fb_helper_initial_config() which is called after i915.ko's custom initial_config() as a fallback method. So in order for us to honour it, we need to move the cmdline parser earlier. If we perform the connector cmdline parsing as soon as we initialise the connector, that cmdline mode and forced status is then available even if the fbdev helper is not compiled in or never called. We also then expose the cmdline user mode in the connector mode lists. v2: Rebase after connector->name upheaval. v3: Adapt mga200 to look for the cmdline mode in the new place. To implement hotplug detection in a race-free manner, drivers must call drm_kms_helper_poll_init() before hotplug events can be triggered. Such events can be triggered right after any of the encoders or connectors are initialized. At the same time, if the drm_fb_helper_hotplug_event() helper is used by a driver, then the poll helper requires some parts of the FB helper to be initialized to prevent a crash. At the same time, drm_fb_helper_init() requires information that is not necessarily available at such an early stage (number of CRTCs and connectors), so it cannot be used yet. Add a new helper, drm_fb_helper_prepare(), that initializes the bare minimum needed to allow drm_kms_helper_poll_init() to execute and any subsequent hotplug events to be processed properly.
