11 dayspackagegroup-core-boot: recommend ifupdownJoe Slater
If the distro features sysvinit and pni-names are enabled, RRECOMMENDS ifupdown because busybox ifupdown will not initialize the renamed interfaces. (From OE-Core rev: ad739fb930814bced49aafe778dac1da4bfa4b0e) Signed-off-by: Joe Slater <joe.slater@windriver.com> Signed-off-by: Richard Purdie <richard.purdie@linuxfoundation.org>
2023-09-22recipes: Drop remaining PR values from recipesRichard Purdie
We've been removing PR values from recipes at upgrade time for a while. In general anyone maintaining a binary distro would end up having to curate these themselves so the values in OE-Core aren't really that useful anymore. In many ways it makes sense to clear out the remaining ones (which are mostly for 'config' recipes that are unlikely to increase in PV) and leave a clean slate for anyone implementing a binary distro config. References are left in meta-selftest since the tests there do involve them and their removal upon upgrade. 2023-01-13packagegroup-core-boot: make init-ifupdown package a recommendationQuentin Schulz
init-ifupdown provides an /etc/network/interfaces, which disables interface management with networkmanager for example. If a network manager (such as networkmanager) is provided, there may not be a need for network related init scripts provided by init-ifupdown, so let's make it a recommendation so it can be easily removed in image recipes via the NO_RECOMMENDATIONS/BAD_RECOMMENDATIONS mechanism. 2021-08-02Convert to new override syntaxRichard Purdie
This is the result of automated script conversion: scripts/contrib/convert-overrides.py <oe-core directory> converting the metadata to use ":" as the override character instead of "_". 2019-08-28packagegroup-core-boot: drop duplicate MACHINE_ESSENTIAL_EXTRA_RDEPENDS, etcAndre McCurdy
Default values for MACHINE_ESSENTIAL_EXTRA_RDEPENDS and MACHINE_ESSENTIAL_EXTRA_RRECOMMENDS are set from bitbake.conf and so don't need to be duplicated in the packagegroup-core-boot recipe. 2019-07-19defaultsetup.conf: enable select init managerKai Kang
Introduce a new variable INIT_MANAGER and create 4 init-manager-*.inc files to configure init manager settings. Available values of INIT_MANAGER are sysvinit, systemd, mdev-busybox and a default of none. 'none' provides backwards compatibility. The settings of various VIRTUAL-RUNTIME variables are moved into these files from the packagegroups. [YOCTO #13031] [Modifications by RP for backwards compatibility] (From OE-Core rev: 8d0b4704a526a48cd5e67df61b613424bbbdccde) Signed-off-by: Kai Kang <kai.kang@windriver.com> Signed-off-by: Richard Purdie <richard.purdie@linuxfoundation.org>
2018-09-10busybox/packagegroups: Break out the busybox-syslog dependencyRichard Purdie
The busybox-syslog rrecomends is proving tricky as it gets pulled in early and there are conflicts between its use of update-alternatives and busybox needing to provide those things. We already have recipes using BAD_RRECOMMENDS to remove this dependency, it probably makes sense to spell it out explicitly and allow it to be overridden more easily. This patch does this, dropping the now unneeded BAD_RRECOMMENDS. It preserves the dependency as a recommendation for now, further cleanup may allow simplication of that. This unbreaks certain build failures on the autobuilder, more as a workaround but is a change we probably want to make anyway. 2018-03-06packagegroup-core-boot: add kernel for EFI systemsCalifornia Sullivan
Previously this wasn't needed because the kernel was added at image creation time to the boot partition. Now that the boot partition is created from the /boot/ partition of the rootfs, it needs to be installed there. 2018-03-06packagegroup-core-boot: add bootloader to EFI systemsCalifornia Sullivan
Since the bootloader is now installed instead of added at image creation time, this is necessary for booting. Also set the default to grub-efi. This is done because a default of grub-efi is already used by live-vm-common.bbclass, and in the event that EFI_PROVIDER isn't defined errors would occur. 2014-09-03packagegroup-core-boot: conditionally rdepend on VIRTUAL-RUNTIME_initscriptsChen Qi
If we are building a systemd image with 'sysvinit' not in DISTRO_FEATURES, the initscripts should not be installed into the image, as they are useless. What's more, we as now support executing scripts under /etc/rcS.d, the boot time will be increased by these scripts as the systemd will try to translate them into temporary service files. These init scritps are actually needed only when 'sysvinit' is in DISTRO_FEATURES. Don't follow DISTRO_FEATURES_INITMAN as that makes the packagegroups rebuild if you switch init manager.
